Ok People,
This is the 24 hour warning.

'Ey up! There's still time to do the other 90 secs and get it posted. Sounds like it could be classic DT.

many thanks Marc, and I agree with your idea of the Switch On Prog, it's a recreation of a favourite prog track that I never heard, <wink>Marc JX8P wrote: Progerities - Liqih:

This is a very interesting track. It feels as though a modern, synth based group recreated their favourite prog music. A kind of 'Switched On Emerson', if you like. Kind of hipnotic. Cool!
maybe someone with a Time Machine will go back a make a proper sounding version!
Seriously, I was somehow forced to use those synth sounds,
but I'm galad they worked

thanks Echo, maybe you'll like also the intro after some listenings, <grin>Echo Voodoo wrote:liqih - Progerties -> Starts off with a disjointed feel, and maintains it straight through. By about 1:10, it makes sense to me! Illumination. Funky sounds,

Great textures - Liked the subtle computerish sounds in the background in the beginning against the jungle drums, like ancient extraterestrials visiting primitive humans. The only thing I wish is that around the 1:00 mark that the drums got punchier to match the rest of the mix.
jplanet_overtureforshadows
You got the prog sound alright! Especially once it went into 7/4. The moog lead against the B3 was as authentic as it gets. Two minutes wasn't enough - you were just building up to more good stuff.
EmeraldTablet_summerbreezz
Plenty of space in the arrangement for the summer breeze to blow through. Good selection of sounds - maybe the wah-wah could have been backed off a little. I also liked the liberty you took with the melody. Really nice interpretation.
Max_el_Belga-Mandrix
Nice jazz chords in intro - Hendrix octaves - a little disco? - more Hendrix - great drums throughout - Yeah, that was a little disco… great collage!
Liqih_progerities
Not exactly prog - I'm not sure what to compare it to, but I liked it. Laid back, but lots of energy - great drumming, good sounds, intricate rhythms, lots of changes - very cool!
Scamme_Momentum
Great groove - the middle part with the vibes is the perfect contrast. It would be worth putting lyrics to this one to see where else it could go!
zeoy_Neptune
Starts out with the Crimson flute mellotron , melodic bass counterpoint - goes to an original groove in 13/4 that works great to get you over to the Pink Floyd section in the middle. A very nice tribute to the whole era!
jamesb_GrazieFor11
Nicely composed - good form, great chords, smooth sounds - I liked the balance between the different time signatures and your transitions to them. The soprano sax synth section on the bridge built good tension - then the EP restating of the opening theme - Classy!
jer1224_Atlantis
Atlantis must have been a funky place! Cool beat, even if it's not typical of prog rock, but James Brown's drummer was doing that kind of thing back then, so it's still 70's. The synth leads are definitely prog and the liquid guitars give it a kind of under the sea kind of sound. Interesting choice for the ending with that E.P. coming out of nowhere. I liked it.
stressed_ode_to_floyd
Floyd could get ominous sounding at times. Not having listened to all their work, I don't know if they ever did it the way you did, putting deep minor key synth chords against major key guitars, but it was very effective. A genuine flashback!

One more review then...
Ode To Floyd - Stressed:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Great song, the guitar certainly invokes Gilmour but the music then settles into a (great) song that doesn't really seem prog to me, especially the rhythm track. Having said that, I really enjoyed this one and aside from the sudden ending it is a very good song. And OMG - you really have a Bowie-esque timbre to your singing, top notch in that. In the end, great stuff!

so yeah, nice - we've got the exact minute just still not the timezone it belongs to...Scoops wrote: (d) submitted before 11:59 PM Saturday, March 24th, 2007
...how often do I have to bitch about this until the contest-moderators final start to put it up right there with the rules where it belongs?
Might be everyone handles this differently but anyway - the last time I submitted something was several months ago and I've got no memory anymore of what M's reply was back then...
So please, does anyone know what timezone is meant?

So Scoops is from Alaska?
Believe it or not but before I posted here I googled for a way to map his coordinates...
(yeah, I probably could have used an atlas like in the good old days, but for that I had to leave my chair and I don't even do this to record my guitar nowadays...
)
I bet there are at least two or three tiemzones in Alaska...

In reality, I started the tradition of closing the submissions thread when I finally managed to get up the next morning and stumble to the computer.
Essentially, you can continue to submit your entry until the thread itself is closed. This is guaranteed to happen *sometime* after midnight in every timezone in the world... and if you're burning the midnight oil to squeeze out the last few tweaks in your tune, then you *might* just have some extra time to do so, but you're not *guaranteed* anything past that midnight deadline.
