Thanks. Was fun, though sort of disappointing how many ideas had to be thrown out for lack of time!

Yeah, you would have had my vote had you put in a flute or at the very least a gong.

Hey you should finish that up. It started sounding interesting there.

Yeah.

The problem is I know what I want to do with it. There's alot of work that needs to be done
It still need vox, a solo and the end needs to be completed. I'm not the fastest, so I really dont see this getting done. I'm about to go to bed. Maybe I'll post it as "Incomplete Overture"

Actually, the last note *does* have a gong! (actually two, layered) Perhaps I just pulled it back a little too much: it ate up a lot of frequency space. That was a *must* that I decided upon when first thinking about this month. (along with fluffy Jon Anderson "flowers and trees" lyrics in the middle)

Was going to have a whole woodwind trio, too: no time! NO TIME!!! And every Mellotron instrument ever produced. And mallet percussion. And more cowbell! And that's not even getting into the whole synth bleeps and blurps...

That's the funny thing about prog: you just slap ideas together end to end, reprise a few, tour a few tempos and meters, and you're golden!

Hey Scoops,
Next time, don't bother giving the 24 hour notice - these last minute entries make the competition a lot harder!

Markleford - Plowshares to Swords to Plowshares: A Progressive Rock Odyssey
Great fun! You captured a lot of the prog-essence with this one. Kind of a Monty Python approach to Prog Rock.

Mellotronaut_Prognuts
As I listened to some of the entries this month, this one included, I realized that Zappa was a major contributor to progressive rock. It was fun - Thanks!

Farlukar_-_Human_behaviour
Challenging rhythms with the bass - is your girlfriend from way up north? Sounds great! A fresh approach to a great song.

papatomany_aftermath
Disquieting images very effectively portrayed. Makes me glad to have missed Nam all over again. Frantic bass and drums, discordant tonalities - very serious. Well done!

magog_allegory_of_the_cave
Wow - you nailed the feeling of PR. Sparse, meaningful lyrics, the right chords with the right voicings - a fitting end to the journey into the more complex music of the 70's. Deserving of a gate fold cover!

I've just been watching a Pat Metheney concert. He embarked on the biggest, most self-indulgent guitar solo ever. Oh, the facial expressions. Oh the hair flying around in the strobe lights. We should have had videos of the composers from this month's contest performing their masterpieces!

OMG !!! I forgot to add more cowbell in the end of my track
I think it's too late now.... :(

Cheers

Oh the sneezing on to the monitor snapshot
Oh, the mayonnaise dripping onto the keyboad snapshot.
Or, the wife running in madder than a pit bull yelling something inaudible.
Or, the doorbell rang in the middle of a take...

All great pics of dedicated home studio musicians hard at work.
