Lfo to Phase

Hi, I'm working on PWM. If I assign an LFO to Osc Phase it has more of an effect on pitch than phase. When manually moving the Phase knob with a mouse or midi controller knob it's possible to get good fat modulation but routing an LFO to the phase knob just seems to make pitch modulation. Can someone verify this or am I doing something wrong?

If you modulate the phase with an LFO, the phase will shrink and expand quickly. Shrinking the phase has the same effect as slightly raising the frequency, while expanding it is the same as slightly lowering the frequency. So yes, you'll get a sort of frequency modulation when you do this, especially at high LFO rates (there are even synths based in this technique by the way).
So you're doing nothing wrong. To get PWM-like effects, just modulate the phase very slowly. Also playing with the oscillators' Retrigger buttons can give nice effects.
