That reminds me: when I submit my album for mastering (soon), should I consider upsamplimg my files with Audiomove/r8brain as discussed, or would that be a mortal offense to the mastering engineer? I guess I should only do that if I had done some final stem mixing at 96k, correct?

Ask him. depends entirely on the studio. not all of them can accommodate 96khz gracefully.bduffy wrote:That reminds me: when I submit my album for mastering (soon), should I consider upsamplimg my files with Audiomove/r8brain as discussed, or would that be a mortal offense to the mastering engineer? Isn't the idea to bounce the project @ 96khz in the first place so that plugins process at that freq rather than bouncing @ 44.1 and then upsampling?bduffy wrote:That reminds me: when I submit my album for mastering (soon), should I consider upsamplimg my files with Audiomove/r8brain as discussed, or would that be a mortal offense to the mastering engineer? dont most plugins ignore the host, and always output 44.1?

That's the ideal situation. But the idea is for mastering, you can use a top-notch SRC to upsample your mixdown, then your mastering plug-ins will run at oversampling-quality, and you'll get a better master.mustgroove wrote:Isn't the idea to bounce the project @ 96khz in the first place so that plugins process at that freq rather than bouncing @ 44.1 and then upsampling?bduffy wrote:That reminds me: when I submit my album for mastering (soon), should I consider upsamplimg my files with Audiomove/r8brain as discussed, or would that be a mortal offense to the mastering engineer?
