My humble observations: this LA is very fine for "classic" rock bass sounds, imho not so very much for slap sounds, not sure yet about "modern" bass guitar for electric, dance thing ... maybe it would suit "a-la musicman" type of sounds.

Any uad-ers around? Any comment about this LA as channel/bus fatmaker?

As Daniel said *presets wanted* here's my wish: if they could be so organized that there would be startpoints for general buss use, bass, kick, snare, keyboard ... not presets with fancy names etc.

Thank you, tomorrow I'll try it. If it's as good as the TLs Pocket Limiter, I think I'll use it very often! Thank you very much!

dunno - unfortunately I can only pull off "a-la Jens" type of sounds convincingly... :hihi:

You know, this is one of the reasons why it *sucks* to use a Mac as your main music machine.
Fortunately, I still use my PC for some things and the TBT plugins are just as great as ever. So, many thanks for this new gizmo!

On the second thought: could somebody talk dAniel into porting his best plugins to linux vsti?

I saw that! Rototoms! I was already gonna thank you for your awesome plugs, but damn... Rototoms!
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Hey Daniel (or anyone),

Would you be able to elaborate on what release 2 does beyond the brief description in the manual?

So far though, this is absolutely excellent on bass and does fun things to drums. It can do that Fairchild thing where the kick ducks the rest of the kit (think Sgt. Pepper Reprise or Ringo's boSHHHSSHHH cymbal hits), only it sounds way more aggressive and brutal than a Fairchild. This is going to be one useful comp.

Thank you Danny boy! :hyper: Always been a fan of your contraptions :D

This thing is incredible - I just put it on a bass-guitar track I had doubled with a synth-bass-track and I somehow couldn't get it right with other compressors - after inserting this thing I finally ended up leaving the synth-track away because the sound of the bass-guitar has become so FAT!
Yes - same here. A bit of dialling in and you get huge sounds on bass guitar, nice colourations if you don't push too hard. Drum Bus and Bass are usually Marquis jobs for me but the character Daniel's new crittur offers is something else again.

Edit: this is more versatile than I thought last night. I've been trying it in a tune on Snare, Kick, trumpet solo and acoustic Piano (Post Emperor). With fast release times and modest gain reduction levels the 2095 can sound very different to the default patch - just reach for the output gain to compensate.

can you post the a/b files can't tell what you're descibing just from what you type. Let's hear it.

I'm in full agreement. Enable the Low Punch and mess around with a low pressure, a long first release, and a pretty fast second release on a drum submix. You get a nice sucking sound, which sounds way different than the default patch. With just a moderate reduction it does sweet things when the kick hits, but if you increase the gain you can get some real craziness.

This is no one trick pony.

I don't have web space ATM - really I am just encouraging people to try this thing on different applications and see what they think. I have a tune with several other compressors set up on instrument channels and the drum bus and I am just going through trying the 2095 on each task in turn, soloing the channel I am dialing it in on and listening to the mix and comparing the results I am getting with the 2095 with those I was getting the other compressors.

We need a little time to get good tweaking it first! I like it at this stage too and I'm sure I can't work it too well yet - thanks Daniel! :tu:

Yes tweak and have fun with it and maybe there will be some useful presets to add.

The release2 is really what I described.. slowing down fast movements in the envelpe curve.

So If you got 100% release2 and 0% release1 then you get more of a "hold" behaviour for instance.

Hi Daniel - just a query: What would be the minimum attack times and release times can the 2095 get down to? Eg with Release 1 and 2 at zero.
