"Route 119(v2)"
(P) Mauve Music Co
I actually sketched this one out using RiffWorks2 and then I did my final recording in T2. Everything was done using my Line6 UX2 TonePort (for all guitar and bass tones), an American Fender Deluxe V-Neck Strat, a Conklin 7-string bass, Drums On Demand loops, a Digi-tech Space Station pedal (for the intro weirdness), a Crybaby 535 wah, and several plug-ins for various sounds and effects. This one was a lot of fun to work on and I really like the guitar and bass tones I was able to get. I used GVst's Multi plug for pre-mastering and then the final stage of mastering was done on my Roland VS-2480 (I really like the sound of that thing).
Hope you all enjoy!

Really fine job here Todd. Love you style and very fine playing and mix. What are drums on demand? Sounds hot, rich and expensive!

Drums On Demand is a loop company:
www.drumsondemand.com
I first started using their "InstantDrummer" sessions in RiffWorks2 and then I eventually bought several loop CD volumes in Rex and Wav formats. I use them constantly now. Oftentimes I intend on using the loops to get a basic song skeleton up and running and then I try to bring in a "live" drummer later. However in this song I really liked the way the drum loops sounded and thought I'd better leave well enough alone. If it ain't broke then don't fix it.
Glad you liked the song!

This was all recorded live in Tracktion. The synths used are Wusikstation and M42 Nebula. The whistle is a Obrien Maple High D.[/url]

I really liked the whistle part (luuuv' Irish music ... can't wait to go back to the greener island of the universe) and the overall mood of the track.shadoe42 wrote:Okay so yesterday I bought Tracktion 3. Today in effort to learn how to use it I did this for a Irish Whistle Board I frequent

But soundwise, it seems to lack a lot of high/high medium/medium (confirmed by the look of the "spectrum analyser" (hum) from Winamp.
Is it on purpose ?

No not really on purpose. But I don't have the best speakers in the world either. heh

Nice playing, shadoe. I think I'd like it better without (or with less of) the pad sound. The cello would be nice all by itself, methinks. Great work in any case!

"Songs to go to sleep by..."

==================----------------
Is now available from amplifier.co.nz for purchase & download, as mp3s (for the technologically-l33t), or CD format for those of us (myself included) who prefer to stay in what we in the computer industry call 'the plastic age' (incidentally, this is known to folks in the music industry as 'before everything went horribly horribly wrong for folks in the music industry'). Here's the link:
http://mattbentley.muzic.net.nz/songs_t ... p_by.shtml
Some details on the EP:
"'Songs to go to sleep by', the third EP from metamorphosis (AKA Matt Bentley), is an eclectic work, stylistically ranging from ambient acoustics to energetic pop-folk in an EP which gently takes us from highs to lows, then back to highs.
Matt blends a wide variety of sounds including worded vocals, wordless vocals, violins, guitars, basses & synthesizers (plus a few sounds I can't quite figure out) into a delicate mix of acoustic bliss and melancholic folk music, similar to some of Mogwai's earlier albums.
Other comparisons might include Cocteau Twin's earlier, more gothic-influenced work, or the creeping acoustic haunt Clannad."
Cheers-

Here's a new song recorded and mixed on T3. A friend of mine Danny First hired me to record nine songs a couple of weeks ago. Things went well and this is the first finished song of the bunch. Enjoy!

Here's my latest T3 tune, Silverdome - I hope you enjoy it - any feedback is greatly appreciated.
The title "Silverdome" refers to the silver colored top of a mushroom-shaped cloud. Start date, June 20th, completed on July 15th. Early 2 year old guitar solo from Audition 2.0 days. I use a faster/easier DAW today called Tracktion 3.0. A maple-neck Fender Deluxe Player Strat fed thru a Digitech GNX3000 guitar workstation provides solo. In this tune, your will hear a new gorgeous synth from ImageLine called "Morphine" and another from IL called "PoiZone". Two bass lines here - one using a preset from the monster synth "Wusikstation" by William K., the other is Rob Papins' "Blue". The percussion is a composite loop that was chopped and slipped, etc. Guitar and kit distortion is a tad more aggressive than usual - I used a nutty free VST called "Berrtill". it's actually a circuit bent VST that emulates the distortion of a childs audio toy. Two reverbs were employed - "CSR" plate as the master and a couple instances of a sweet freeverb called "Omniverb". Light compression was applied to basso using Digitalfishphones "Blockfish". Finally, two EQs were used. T3s' 4-band and "Electric-Q, Posihfopit edition". This tune used 57 clips, some using Magix Sound Pool DVD collection 12. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it. Oh, and thanks Casey Jones and JMH for their bits!

Wow - Johnny2 - "Firestorm" is a really cool track - heavy beat, minimalist and moody! Is that the Firebird Synth your using? - sounds like it - if not, you should check it out! Interesting bass sounds. I'll bet you own Vanguard too! Very enjoyable listen - thanks for sharing! Oh, cool website too!
