Ivory Italian Grand Receptorized yet?

I have been waiting for this as well. I think that priority is currently being given to making windows installers work on Receptor. Once that's done, it should solve a big batch of "when is my favorite product going to be ready for Receptor questions." I'm hoping that comes in the 1.6 update - soon.

Hi guys
We fully intended to release it immediately after NAMM, and then in QA we discovered that, indeed, it does works, but it will also click in certain circumstances. Given that Ivory is one of the plug-ins that is "at its best" on Receptor, we were not willing to release it in an unoptimized state, so we are working with the clever folks at Synthogy to sort out what is causing the behavior, and once it is resolved, it will be released.
From what I understand there is part of the fix for Italian Grand in V1.6, and then Synthogy is going to rev the Ivory engine as well for the "Receptorized" version so that it runs as well as Ivory itself does.
Just as an aside, I've listened to Italian Grand at the Annex Studio C through both some Genelecs and UREI monitors, and it is, in a word, awesome. I am really happy that Synthogy did this piano, I love the musicality and sonority of the Fazioli, and I think they've done a really great job capturing the warmth of this awesome piano.
So... please be patient, shouldn't me more than a few weeks...and you're in some pretty great company anxious to get it...Herbie is asking us to do it as soon as possible, since that is his piano of choice.
Cheers

My guess is, that it sounds better on a Receptor than on a laptop with decent soundcard, because of the awesome converters in the Receptor
I for one have no experience with the Ivory on receptor, but I can vouch for the fact that almost everything plugin/sample-wise sounds better on a Receptor than on any other computer

Sure, converters are one thing, and I personally think that Receptor is as good if not better than _any_ PC audio solution out there. We're using high end parts everywhere, but more importantly, we hired who I consider to be the best audio hardware designer in the business to design it, and just as important, a true expert in the field of mixed signal PCB design and layout.
The guy who did our hardware also did the Emulator IV and APS with me back at EMU...suffice it to say he really knows his stuff... and our PCB layout guy really and truly is a genius when it comes to keeping grounds clean and keeping computer noises out of your analog section. I have, as you can tell, loads of respect for these guys, they are at the top of their game, no doubt about it, and I'm really proud at the job they did.
But there is another element, that's even MORE important, and that's the software. Specifically, the integration between the driver, the host application (we call it Muse Machine) and the plug-in. The result is higher performance... Ivory can run, completely stable, with buffer setting of 32 samples on Receptor. First off, I don't know any DIY sound card solution that runs at 32 samples with anything, much less running a streaming sample engine. That incredibly small latency setting is only possible in a system that is highly optimized, and free of the junk that clogs up off-the-shelf computer solutions.
And then there is polyphony, which also shines with Ivory on Receptor. I guess the best way to summarize what I mean by "Ivory shines on Receptor is to quote one of the founders at Synthogy who said at a recent NAMM that "Receptor runs Ivory better than any platform, at any price".
That about sums it up in my book, and it is why cats are buying Receptor just to run Ivory, using it as their "go to" piano module. And of course when you start layering in things like EWQLSO Gold, or Atmosphere, or spllitting with things like Trilogy, you start to approach pianistic nirvana!
Add to Ivory a sample library of what I consider to be the best piano on the market (and I say that with true and profound respect for Bosendorfer, Steinway, Yamaha, and Mason & Hamlin, which are wonderful wonderful instruments) and you really have something special. I don't know what it is about Fazioli... they're a relatively young company (compared to venerable Steinway), run by sharp-dressed Italians, but to me the instrument exudes the perfect blend of sonority while being able to bite as well...I heard a concert pianist playing their top of the line piano at Musik Messe and it was stunning.
Even better, I believe Synthogy captured a lot of that magic in the Italian Grand as well, so you don't have to spend $135K to get that wonderful sound (but before you flame me, NOTHING compares to the real thing. Nothing ever will. Period, end of discussion. All I'm saying is that it sure is nice to have much the same expressivity in something you can tuck under your arm and take to a gig!)
For years at E-mu we tried to create the ultimate piano module. The Proformance was okay, especially at the price, and the E4 running a couple of different piano libraries was pretty good, but once you hear Ivory on Receptor through a great set of monitors, its really hard to go back to anything else unless its the real thing!

Groovology,
Thanks for the updates - I agree that Ivory is terrific on Receptor. I'd go so far as to say (for me at least) I'm getting my money's worth out of Receptor just running Ivory (the rest, and there is sooo much more is gravy) - thanks for that -

Let me check into this... I know that IG will require its own installer, which I believe is done, but there is an update to Ivory that is required to go with it, and I'm not sure what the situation is for that...

Thanks for the swift reply - I'll check back later. Now that 1.6 is finished you guys must just be sittin' around sippin' an ice tea (or something else) and reading the forums
Life is good!

Farhan said it should be ready the end of July... we're going to update the installer to include the new Ivory engine, apparently.
