Hiezenbox has a preset called "into the matrix", check the demo. Its what you're looking for.

i did try that. i tried tweaking it. maybe my memory's off, but that's not the sound. maybe it actually means "into the matrix". i don't recall the sound associated with that

i just about have the sound using granulab

thanx

someone told me it was TCE (time compression/expansion) used over and over until it was mostly artifacts.
Never tried that though.

Edit:
is this the sound, sort of?

I did this with the default TCE in Protools, using the right sound to begin with will make it even better.

As popular this loop point modulation effect is, I have not been able to find a vst sampler that really gives you the control over loop points that a hardware sampler can, and I have looked very hard. Why is this simple feature not fully implemented in any vst samplers? I have no freaking clue. :bang: :nutter:

I'm convinced that the artists performing complex loop point modulations in software are all using low level modular apps like max/msp or reaktor, because it seems that none of the companies that are making vst samplers seem to be able to get a freaking clue.

i think cronox3 might have flexible modulate-able loop points?

i'll get after it now in seriousness and see what i can come up with

can't shortcircuit free modulate loop points?
http://vemberaudio.se/shortcircuit.php

i know that battery 2 (and probably 3, but i only have 2) can, but i've never liked the results.

you could build a simple patch in karmafx that you could modulate loop points with.

i share your frustration, though. samples that are useful in ways other than just being able to load huge libraries are tough to find.

but could someone please post a sound clip? i know the sound, but it'd be nice to have a reference. i remember thinking it was too clean be some kind of buffer-repeat thing.

i know what you mean

i've been playin with arcdev's cyclotron 1 and getting close. i'm using a sample called "digital" that sounds like it was made through granular synthesis in the 1st place. i'm re-processing results and using comb filters

i think i could get closer if i knew what delay is used on the vocoded "intergalactic"

i'm downloading short circuit. i just found out that cyclotron 2 is up. back to the lab

short circuit gets my award for least intuitive design. i can't get sound nor loop points. a little box flashes when i press a key, so it's gettin juice. i have no loop point option when i right click. after plodding through the user unfriendly manual, i still can't ctrl click a slice. maybe it's muzys. is this thing worth loadin into tracktion?

so far i haven't been able to get close with cyclotron 2. i haven't been able to make it be as bold and raw as the 1st one

yeah, it's not very intuitive. but you can cc control the loop endpoints!

but really, click "load." load your sample. by default, it chooses a single note in the "zone range" that's probably not the note you're pushing to try to get sound out of it. in the "zone range" section, push "learn all." now push your note on your controller. it should learn. you choose to make it loop in the pull down menu toward the center, right below the waveform that shows "forward." choose "forward loop," for example. you now have dragable loop points on either end of the waveform. hit "config" to setup midi controllers (again, not very intuitive). the modulation routing is the fairly straightforward. oh, and adjusting values in the boxes is gone by moving the mouse left and right, not up and down (again, not intuitive).

also might help to turn off "snap" on the far right, below the waveform when you're setting loop points. hope this helps. like you said, not intuitive at all, and the manual blows, but it can do some cool stuff and it's free.

i had a quick go at trying to automate it, but i can't figure out how to set that up. the only controllers i have are keys and a 2 button pitch bend :hihi: (i rarely pitch bend anyway)

not all samples open with loop points. i'm guessing it's because none were imbedded. do i have to do that in another program?

and...last night i loaded a sample with the "entire keyboard option" and somehow reset it when i went to play.

this program has humbled me
