I can live with that!! :D

at some point we'll be releasing some local tools to be able to sort and convert your loops. At least that's the plan... we had to write proprietary software to be able to do that..
So anyone else interesting in these tools? Going to try to find out when these can be released ;)...

Sounds like it's highly speculative right now...I'm totally interested.

Please let me know asap..

We don't have a timeline on the release of the conversion tools part because it isn't confirmed exactly what we're going to be releasing just yet. So, for now we use them to make our loops consistent between the formats. Yes, the slices are embedded in the Acidized Waves and they match up to the same slice points as the Rex which is really cool for cross compatibility. If you were working with a Rex file and slowing it down but then thought an Acidized Wave format version of that loop might be better (say perhaps if it is an instrument loop) then by using a Sonic Reality RAW loop done with our tool your Acidized Wave would sound more like the Rex version in feel because the slice points were in the same spot. Theoretically that is (it might also be different because of the way your host/sampler deals with the different formats but still... nice starting point).

I realize that would be a nice thing to have for your own loops though too so at some point I agree we should release it. There are some tools that claim to do some of these things already though... but we found that they typically didn't work all that well... so much so that we felt we had to have our own written so if that doesn't back that up I don't know what would!!! Believe me, I'd have rather just used an off the shelf tool. Less expensive for us. In fact, I really thought doing Rex, Apple Loops and Wave libraries would be easier than it was but it turned out to be a lot of work (consider R.A.W. Gold Edition has 43,000 loops in it on 19 DVDs ALL tagged with descriptors you can imagine the amount of work and they're new loops too). But, it was much harder before we had these utilities made.

Anyway, we'll of course announce officially when/if there are any loop-related tools from us coming out. In the meantime, our main thing is the loop content itself which we have a lot of.

By the way, someone mentioned Beat Quantizer. I like that product a lot. It may not be the easiest to use but it can do some cool things... and it can do multitrack but unfortunately it can't SAVE Rex2. But... that's everyone's gripe I guess.

Thanks Squids! I'm will be checking out your vast library in the days to come.. Please don't hesitate to let us know if and when the tools are released!

ditto to that!!

Squids wrote:On the software side of things, we have been working on a product called "R.A.W. Sound Manager" and it actually does exist right now as an in-house tool (it's how we convert and tag all of our files). One of the cool things about it is that you can actually tag your Rex and Waves just as deep or deeper than you can with Apple Loops. The only problem is that no host currently can read that data (although we'll have a conversion utility that can go to Cubase's media bay). We did all of the loops for Tracktion 3 which works that way but they're Apple Loops so it is reading the meta tag data that Apple products also read.
Can you use it as a sample database as well?
