I've been using ZebraCM these days and am using it actually on a couple of songs. So thanks a lot, though I think I already thanked for it. And the strategy is good, cos although I don't plan on buying any other soft synth (cos I convinced myself I have too many), at least you can be sure if I ever buy another soft synth, Zebra2 will be the best candidate, cos if to me ZebraCM sounds wonderful, Zebra2 must be a beast.

and it already has a new lfo interface ...
Having just installed Live 6 Lite, I notice ZebraCM's controls, from the pictures, look rather Ableton-ish to me.

I just got ZebraCM over the weekend but haven't installed yet, wanted to read this thread first. I haven't bought a new synth since Rapture several months ago, but Zebra is on my very short short list.

I wonder if I can get "made obsolete by Zebra" on my vintage additive synthesizer - 91 polyphony, fixed-speed LFO assignable to vibrato or chorus effects, and effects in the output chain.

Argh! No presets.

The Presets window inside ZebraCM displays "Local" and "User" but there are no actual presets to be found.

Don't get me wrong. The Presets folder is there on the DVD. However, the frickin' brain surgeons at CM only have these installation instructions: "Install ZebraCM by... copying the AU/VST files to the appropriate folder (on Mac)". Yeah, that's thorough documentation, now isn't it. Okay, so WTF is the "appropriate folder".

It's not so much a problem for the AU itself (/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components). But there's not as much standardization for where Plugs look for their presets. Usually something goes into the abovementioned folder or /Library/Application Support, but neither seems to work.

I'm using this under Live 6 on a Macbook Core2Duo. Urs, I hate to bug you just because the dimbulbs at the mag can't be bothered to actually write up a real install process, but I'd really appreciate some help please! :help:

I just picked up CM here in the States. If Urs is still following this thread: A big tip of the hat and Thank You.

Nice synth! excellent interface and the presets arent to shabby. Very nice gift and the best soft synth I've ever tried.

Did you check the online manual for Zebra2? I think all you need to do is change Zebra2 to ZebraCM wherever it appears.

Thanks Tim! For the record, that's exactly it.

In case anybody else gets stumped on this one, here's the (edited) paths from the manual page:

Code: Select all

There are two different preset locations:

Global
MacintoshHD/Library/Audio/Presets/u-he/ZebraCM/

User
~user/Library/Audio/Presets/u-he/ZebraCM/
Put the Presets folder into the "u-he" folder location then rename it to ZebraCM and the presets all show up once again. Hopefully this one won't get too many other people.

Thanks again!!!

I saw a small set of about 5-6 mentioned on the Computer Music Forum. The direct link is:

and the guy's site is:

They're in .aupreset format though. That means if you don't have a mac, you can't load em. If anyone feels like converting to .h2p and uploading, I'm sure we'd all appreciate it. I'd do it but my mac is in the shop with a bad motherboard.

How are the osc in ZebraCM

Are you sure? I thought Zebra could load h2p, aupreset and fxb formats, regardless of the platform, so it seems reasonable to expect ZebraCM to do so as well. Give it a try, anyway...
