Sure... do a timewarp to late 70's and early 80's look up Tangerine Dream, Early Alan Parsons Project and a bit of Jean Michel Jarre then i'm sure you will find somethingtboulette wrote:I can't stop listening to this -- is there more??mkastrup wrote:so i'm doing some classic oldskool patches:

Those are the people i have in mind when i make these patches. I'm not trying to do 100% rip off of sounds so the sounds are as i remember them 25 years ago. What i DO try to copy is the overall mood of that type of synthesis based music.
Todays musicians would prolly add a DnB beat to

Here's my contribution to the patch exchange area :
http://www.zebrasynth.com/download/Peter_Bank.rar
32 mindblowing patches for Zebra2 !
I did them while learning to program the synth, so no wildly modulated sounds here. I will refine them and add more sounds later.
And the best news : they're free !
Enjoy,
Peter.

Here are my fav's and why:
NAT Holy Cheeze because its dead simple
PAD Epic Strings good spread
PAD Sad Strings almost vintage EQ'ed
PRC Trash Loop interesting
SYN Narrow Solo good EQ
SYN Romantica because its a guitarish sound without use of comb
SYN The Sawz because of the phatness

I see you're putting Transmission to good use to create new sounds - good to see/hear!

I really gotta say the subtle evolution of the main progression is excellent. I was wondering how you accomplished this? Was this with an ARP or your own skillful fingers?

The main bass theme is ARP made and all progression is build within the patches so it comes out naturally or atleast thats what i'm trying to do
When i listen to other peoples patches i dont think mines much different, its all about making the sounds which suit a track. For my part i tend to think in frequency when building patches for a track so i try to make patches fit a certain spectrum so they dont overlap with other patches.
Anyway, Zebra almost screams M O D U L A T E me with all those options so thats exactly what im doing

Thanks for the reply, I really like subtle evolving shifts like the one you did. I looked at your Orbit patch and saw some of the tricks you use to make a patch never seem to repeat. Neat stuff!mkastrup wrote:The main bass theme is ARP made and all progression is build within the patches so it comes out naturally or atleast thats what i'm trying to docause i dont want to fiddle with these setting in the mix. The outcome of patches like this is never identical, too much movement takes it out of control so its about staying within a limited area but with added life to it.
I'm just thankful you released those patches to us all. Seeing what you do in there (as well as Zircon, Tas, Howard) really helps me learn. Playing with combs today was a lot of fun. I wonder how subtle lfo and mseg attachments to those would sound...mkastrup wrote:When i listen to other peoples patches i dont think mines much different, its all about making the sounds which suit a track. Amen to that! I almost bought Blue but saw the buzz around Zebra and got into the pre-buy. I'm proud to say Zebra is my first synth and I doubt I'll be needing a second for a long time. I'm just barely starting to feel comfortable with the oscillators (still doing a bit of head scratching on the spectro- wave modes).mkastrup wrote:Anyway, Zebra almost screams M O D U L A T E me with all those options so thats exactly what im doing
