Fantastic! This is finally a stompbox dream come true. The fuzz, wah, univibe, and octaver are the best out there bar none!

Post

Quick piece of info....my understanding is that the crossgrade on this is only going to be available for 3 months.
Play what you feel and feel what you play.

I have had a couple of messages asking me how to use AT2JHE standalone with a MIDI expression pedal. I repeat guys, in standlone, you can't.

If you want to be able to control the Wah with a MIDI controller, you would have to dio it via your favorite VsT host.

I use Console, and now I am trying Ploggue Piddule and it is working great with both.

One thing Amplitube 2 is really lacking is the ability to rearrange your stomp chain by dragging. Both Waves Stomp and Guitar Rig 2 have this feature. And finally Cubase even has it. This is a pretty important feature that is missing.

And speaking of things missing from AT2...
Compare these identical screenshots from the beta and the final version of Amplitube 2. How many differences can you spot?

Good thing I found this early screenshot. I thought I was going crazy. http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... start=4785

I've been tossing this around for a few days now and I guess I'll just go freeware Hendrix/Trower FX for now (Coyote Wah -> SimulAnalog UniVibe -> Buz fuzz) into ReValver MK II.

I really like the JHE effects, but RVMKII wins hands down when going straight into the amp - better pick sensitivity and a far more dynamically evolving tone IMO - AND the Coyote Wah allows direct MIDI control.

Oddly, the JHE can be integrated into ReValver MK II via the VST Host modules, even though it can't be integrated into AT2! It is even possible to capture IRs from the cab section within RVMKII, so I'll probably end up with a few nice souvenirs from me test drive  .

The JHE Uni-Vibe and fuzz boxes are top shelf and real progress has been made here, but the cost a bit too high for me right now just for the few stomps I'd end up using. The freeware FX aren't nearly as pretty but they are just as trippy, and that's the main thing!! :D

Having trouble with the JH software with Ableton on intel Mac.... it starts squealing and then blows up Ableton... never had any software do that yet...

I had that exact same complaint on page 296!

--------------------

After having spent a few more hours with AT2 here are my second impressions.

The good:
---------
  • -The overall sound is very good. The cleans are amazing, the mild gain ones are very good.
-The interface is slick and intuitive
    -A bonus SpeedTrainer player
The bad:
--------
  • -The presets could be a lot better. Take Carlos #1 and #2 for example, these sound dont even come close to a true Santana rig. GR2 does it *MUCH* better.
-The high gain sounds are just "OK"
-No midi input configuration to control the pedals? (wah for example) / standalone
-The mic positioning could be a little more flexible
-No drag and drop of the stomps if the chaining order is to be switched
-The metronome click cannot be changed to our own sound...The default sound gave me a headache after 30 seconds
-No user accessible site to download extra presets or tones. No sharing community.
The ugly:
---------
  • -The picth shifting and especially the time stretching mechanism on the SpeedTrainer are *really* bad. Even that open source time stretching library could have done a better job!
-No TAP tempo ! what a miss! how can you have nowadays a tempo only configured via a knob?! The tempo should allow tap and set ( using spacebar for example or mouse click on the BPM value)
-The noise gate seems to be tied to the Presets! What the heck, I almosy went deaf when I switched to a high gain sound and it resetted to default the noise gate! There should be an option ( maybe a checkbox ) next to the noise gate to unlink it from Presets, meaning that when I load a preset, the noise gate stays the same as before the loading of the preset.

That's it for now.

Please post your impressions

Yes, there is some differences indeed from some beta screens that were released back in 2005. Mostly cosmetic, but some fucntional like the phazer 9.

I am guessing another add-on module :)

had that exact same thing in standalone mode, i was thinking it was the demo time limit, so i restarted, same patch, same feedback, overload and it stopped my audio interface, had to unplug replug, restart

I'm beginning to worry that IKMM has no real intention of integrating ATJH into AT2. They certainly didn't go about designing ATJH with that in mind. Consider, for example, how the two different Fuzz Face models both share the same name "FuzzAge". For them to be integrated, one would need to have a name change. But IK didn't set out to call the one in ATJH "Vintage FuzzAge".

To further complicate matters, all four EQ models in ATJH share a name with EQ models in AT2. "British Tube Lead 1", "American Tube Vintage", "American Tube Clean 1", and "American Tube Clean 2" are all names of models found in AT2 as well. If IKMM had any intention of allowing integration of these models into AT2, then the only logical explanation would be that they cheaped out and recycled the EQ models from AT2.

Finally, there is the issue of the cabs/mics. Would an integrated ATJH/AT2 have some mics available for some cabs, and other mics available for other cabs? That seems like it could cause some serious complications when swapping cabs. The ideal solution would of course be that IKMM thought ahead and made impulse responses of the ATJH cabs with the AT2 mics as well, and also brought out the original AT2 cabs to expand the impulse response library to include the new mics found in ATJH. But does anyone honestly think they did any of this?

they will just add JHE at the end of the names in AT2, as the fuxx faces doesnt sound the same anyways

I'd go with that too....after all, the presets for it have .ajhp as a file extension. <edit> Forgot to mention that AT2 presets have .at2p as the ext. </edit>

I think this is hy it is taking so long for them to integrate it. It is a bit less trivial then it seems at first.

Hmm...That would be a good and simple approach

I got them going on this (I think?) through tech support......got a couple of back and forths happening.....would be great if you guys gave them a holla since I'm certain it's macintel only. I've got it on my pc and it's working fine......
