Ok, I've updated the Zebra2 patches - if you re-download the original file:
http://bj.angeltowns.com/files/zebra/beej_zebraCM.zip (190K)
The Z2 versions now have the correct oscillator FX and now sound as they should.
The ZebraCM files are unchanged, so you only need to re-download if you are using the Z2 versions.
Once again, sorry about that, my bad...

Dang, that was quick! Thanks for the re-up. I did a quick check and all sounds well. Thanks again for looking into thisbeej wrote:Ok, I've updated the Zebra2 patches - if you re-download the original file:

Excellent patches! Many thanks!
Just one recommendation for the Mac folks: I'd rather put the patches into user/Library/etc... rather than MacHD/Library/etc... That way you're more safe in case of system backups and whatever (because it's the most likely HDD position to get backed up).

Hey Sascha - yes, of course you can put them in your user area as well, it's up to you.
What I tend to do is put presets *and* third-party collections into the local folder, leaving my user area for entirely my own stuff, but everybody develops their own system accordingly.
I backup/mirror my entire drive anyway so one location is just as likely to be backed up as another - and in any case, you can always redownload that stuff from the internet, unlike your own patches which are less replaceable should you lose them without a backup.
It just means that going into every option in the installation instructions then gets confusing for the people that aren't so up on things - so it's easier just to give quick install instructions and let people better able to work out how they want to do things put them wherever works best for them...

Sure, I totally agree.beej wrote:[...]

And btw, it's not meant as any sort of criticism at all. And even if so, it'd be a criticism about Apples rather bloated system structure (which I find really stupid, to be honest). As a user, I just want to create one "central" place for whatever files and use that for everything. On my Windows machine, I keep everything on my samples/sounds partition and point whatever synths/samplers in question to that partition. Under OSX that's only possible using aliases (and unfortunately, with Z2 it's like that under Windows as well, one of my main complaints, all that preset organisation stuff...) or symbolic links.

Speaking of aliases, I thought that would be a neat way of putting together a shortlist of my favourite presets: create an alias, and move the alias to my own folder in the preset hierarchy, leaving the original in place. Unfortunately, the aliases presets don't show up in Z2.Sascha Franck wrote:Under OSX that's only possible using aliases (and unfortunately, with Z2 it's like that under Windows as well, one of my main complaints, all that preset organisation stuff...) or symbolic links.

Have you tried with symbolic links? I haven't bothered yet but will on friday (leaving home for 3 days right now) - I seem to remember someone saying symbolic links would work better in quite some cases.blurk wrote: Speaking of aliases, I thought that would be a neat way of putting together a shortlist of my favourite presets: create an alias, and move the alias to my own folder in the preset hierarchy, leaving the original in place. No, not yet. I imagine they would work better because they are more fundamental to the file system. Of course, a hard link would probably be even better. AFAIK, I'd have to open up a shell in a terminal window to create a symlink, which is less than convenient.Sascha Franck wrote: Have you tried with symbolic links? No, there's a free tool called "Symbolic Linker", which adds a context menu.blurk wrote:AFAIK, I'd have to open up a shell in a terminal window to create a symlink, which is less than convenient.

Thanx for these new ZebraCM sounds...tested some of them, and they are great starting-off points for new sounds: just by tweaking noise, envelope, filters, and tuning, great new sounds emerge!beej wrote:Ok, I've updated the Zebra2 patches - if you re-download the original file:
