personally i havent dived deep into kontakt but only use it as a player for libs like kirk hunter emerald and sampletekk's TSO... its gorgeous. i had issues of it taking 10 secs to load per instance, and found that after reinstalling windows it loads far faster... not much to complain now

as you know, kontakt had some hard times in the past but he moved upstate, got a new job and a new girlfriend and things are going very well. pretty much turned his life around. that little medical issue is apparently under control now too. i'll be sure to let kontakt know you were asking about him.Kontakt - how is it doing now?
sorry, couldnt resist.
all joking aside, kontakt 2 is not only my main sampler but its also served as the primary vst of most of my songs over the past 6 months. i havent had any problems with it at all and i've been very happy with it.

Hey! Thanks for your opinions. If you say it's stable - I feel relieved.
Any words about the library? I'm usually a bit sceptical about included libraries, as they always tend to be a little bit too much middle-of-the-road for my taste. But 15 GB! There should be some good stuff in there? The Vienna samples - good?

I think Kontakt 2 is truly excellent - I had hesitations because of the way some people around here talk about it, but finally jumped as I wanted to support it for development. Now, I wonder what I waited for - it is very deep, and has a great and interesting library of sounds, the ksp is unrivalled - it is basically a great (dare I say perfect?) choice for both playback of mega libraries, and for mangling samples.

Aren't any of you guys having problems with the latest Kontakt 2 when loading instruments? I unfortunately am
, it crashes from time to time. I reported it to NI support, and even found a particular case to reproduce it, which was confirmed by a moderator in this thread:

There are various scripts that do such things. I have one in particular that is really cool. It'll add a stutter effect to whatever sample is being played when I press a defined key on my keyboard. Instant glitch fun.rpc9943 wrote:sorry but how would you mangle samples within kontakt???

...you heard the example I posted? so many fx and modulators plus the mentioned ksp engine, the different playback modes - you can go so deep with Kontakt, it's almost like tweaking a synth...

Also happens to me sometimes with a few sounds of old converted Akai libraries (not worth the mention anyway), but the included library and the samples I made myself work without a glitch. The library expansion (Kontakt Experience) is also very good.Sahul wrote:Aren't any of you guys having problems with the latest Kontakt 2 when loading instruments? I don't have the latest version though, I was afraid to update after the horror stories of their new registration procedure (it's already difficult enough because my music PC is not connected to internet).
