Bummer. Right when T-Com is on strike, our adsl breaks down. I'm using a modem here to perform some basic tasks, but that's all I can do - sales are not affected though.

A Telekom technician is scheduled to arrive within the hour, but I guess he won't show up. Maybe soemwhen next week. Or - like back in November - after 3 weeks?

Well, can't do much. Will just pretend to be on vacation or something...

Has anyone experience with sueing T-Com? Their AGBs say 24 hours...

Yours depressedly,

;) Urs

Oh... wonders happen...

The guy arrived in time! Took him a while to fix it, especially as his measurements contradicted with some standard procedures... but now...

16 Mbit - yummy - after two days with just 56k...

Happy ending! I have no telecommunication probs since I changed from T-Com to Versatel. :D

Urs, you're a masochist ;)
We're using Alice for 2 years now. The change was a pain as the T-Comedians 'forgot' to take care of a new line (last mile...). Took about a month, but we're fine since then. Luckily, Alice are running their own stuff in Berlin from the switch site on (as opposed to the fake VoIP offers in some towns...). They're cheap - and - you can phone them 24/7 and there's really someone human at the other end :)

Well, we actually never had any serious problems so far either. It was exactly the *switch* (the box outside on the street) that was broken...

It's not easy to get these guys, but we now we know how to make them show up. (The outage in November was actually a fault of the guys who were renovating the building - and cut the line when putting up their scaffolding...)

Later,

;) Urs

Just make sure - if you have complaints or want to cancel the relationship - to use 'Einschreiben'
Anything else WILL NOT be dealt with, they' ll tell you they never got any letters etc. And forget about phoning them if problems should occur: ''....our technicians are already out there!''

you can always send a fax - it's the quickest, cheapest and safest way - they can tell you they did not receive it all they like - as long as you've got the 'Sendebericht' you're on the safe side. ;-)

Yep, i guess you are right there. I did send them a fax but forgot(?) about the 'Sendebericht'. Wasn't my fax, didn't know how to enable it, either. Nevermind, can't change it anyhow today. I am very very sure it's one of their strategies! Never experienced anything like it with other ISPs. And i am pretty sure they don't have 'Kulanz' in their dictionaries, either.

Actually...

The connection is now coming and going... I can surf a minute... and then I'm offline for a couple of seconds... very annoying... I guess they are repairing more parts out there... but who knows... I'm off for the day anyway...

To compensate for the offline-depression I just ordered the 8 Core Mac with 2 x 30" Cinema Display driven by 2 x NVidia 7300 cards (no fans! The most silent solution for two 30inchers). Why? - So I can comfortably run Vista in Parallels Desktop and develop considerably faster! I might even be able to use the very same codebase for Mac & Win development without needing to synchronize versions. That'd be awesome!

Cheers,

;) Urs

Not lately, but last October (release of Zebra2) was pretty good... and the release of 2.1... and of course, MFM2 is pretty imminent as well... I can't complain...

Also, Grrrl finally got the rare thing of an advance from BMG  , so I can safely spend some of my reserves and save some taxes, instead of spending it in bags & shoes 8)

Darn. I saw the subject line and was hoping that "T-com" was the name of a windows virus, so that I could have told you "you should have stuck with mac-only development".

Victor.

Seriously, it's not that bad. Windows runs on Macs lately...

And I must say one thing... customers with apple.com emails vs. customers with microsoft.com email addresses: 1:5 - that means, 5 dudes from MS got it while only 1 guy from Apple has bought anything!

The other good thing is, I have a usb stick. Thus, my pc is not on the internet/lan at all... this will probably change soon, but then... seeing some BSODs in Parallels is probably quite funny :hihi:

hahaha, my girl actually owned a bag and shoe shop for a while, it can be quite scary when they have access to stocking a shop with shoes and bags, brings a new meaning to the expression, 'shop till you drop' .... :-o
