OK

it's 24/48...

here is how I've made : I've built a Test Sample, made of the TH Orchestra Hit, a cymbal and a taïko, so frequency spectrum is really wide.
Once this preset was build, I've bounced it to have a audiofile @ 0dB, and imported it in Logic, and put the VSS3 on a bus, with same volume and same send for each reverb preset.

Here are some presets (I can't detail the parameters, they are more than 800 !):

audiofiles removed from site, need space ;)

This one is done with Alive Wide reverb type, 13 sec. decay, ER Church Medium, no damping on High and Low (full 20-20000), no Rev Mod, no Space Mod

Alive Wide

Then, it's the same, with Rev Mod Smooth2 and Space Mod Normal

Alive Wide Mod

have a nice listening session !

btw, the Alive Wide/mode files sounds great

Thanks again

So, what's your opinion/feeling ?

Because the few files I've posted can't give you a complete "image" of what is VSS3.
It's used in a song, in sound design or film music it gives its best (ie in a full context).

Hmm, I must say it is a little hard to tell. I always love listening to reverb on melodic instruments. Check out the demos I posted here...

Let me know what you think, this is ArtsAcoustic Reverb :D

Hi

no time this week-end, but monday I will download the noverb files and try to find same type of reverb with VSS3.
so we can have a kind of comparison :)

Post

Sounds awesome :D Thanks! I can try to provide WAV versions if you like :)

OK for Wav...
Do you have made your own presets on AAR or are they factory ones ?
I will download the Reverb demo, but am I be able to load home made presets in it ?

Post

Gmm not quite sure if you can load them. These are all original, trust me AAR is so so easy to use. You'll get a similar sounding verb in no time :D

I'll prepare the WAVs in a few moments :)

In order to gain time, would you mind to give me a screenshot of the AAReverb for each preset ?

Post

hey this is cool, love to hear the VSS3 in action on that melodie sounds, too.

Sure sleepless :D I'll prepare them now.

hifiboom I have always wanted to see what I'm missing on the high end stuff. The main things of interest to me are the

- UAD 1176, Pultec, Fairchild, LA2A

in comparison to Voxengo Marquis / GlissEQ

- TC VSS3

in comparison to CSR / Arts Acoustic

- Access Virus

in comparison to Sylenth1, Zebra2 and Synth1

Trying my best to stay native but I would certainly consider DSP cards if the difference in quality can be justified by the price difference and latency introduced.

Alrighty, you'll find the WAV files comparessed in a RAR file under http://www.users.on.net/~djbros/AAR/

I'll grab some preset screenshots soon :D

The VSS3 is killer. I got this as part of an amazing bundle deal at Thomann:
http://www.thomann.de/gb/tc_electronic_ ... t_vss3.htm

I usually set up a Plate 140 on a UAD1 and a VSS3 on a Poco at the start of a project. So far these have stayed to the end of every project.

The UAD1 scores highly on eq and compression. My concern is that the best vintage style eq and compressors (usually Neve) on the UAD1 use up loads of resource on the DSP, like only three 1073s or a single 33609 per card. Once I'm up and running with quad core I'll be taking a good look at the native vintage alternatives from Waves and URS.

The 2 Pocos here were bought primarily to run Virus VSTIs. Nothing else does that.

Loads of people have loads of issues with Powercores. The Firewire versions are less fussy, but there is more inherent latency. My old X2 Athlon used to just crash with a Poco PCI installed - a known issue for years, and still no fix. TC still have no 64 bit Windows or Vista support. On the other hand a working Poco system does unique and powerful stuff in a PC. :D
