Hi,
Any comments to this one and its additional plugs? Worth the doe? How do you compare it to UAD-1? I recall TC's native plugs from some years ago, in the infancey of VST plugs, and remember them as being very digital and thin. However, I have TC3000 reverb and that is a great reverb.
Cheers
Rob

Hi
I own both TC and UAD, and they complement each other.
I can't live without TC's reverbs (VSS3, NonLin2 & DVR2) or the MD3.
Their Sonic Restoration bundle is also a great bundle, better to my ears than Waves one (I haven't listen yet to the Wave Arts bundle).
I own Sony's bundle too, and have to say it is considered here like the best sounding EQs & Dynamic by some of the most respected sound designers for movies. And I agree
but all these plugs are optional...
on the other hand, I can't work without UAD vintage EQs & compressors (1176, Neve, Pultec, Helios...), their Plate or the Precision Limiter. The Neve are really astonishing, as the Helios is.
But most of them are also optional...
I think what you have to keep in mind is that both in their basic version are great tools, giving horsepower, with good quality plugs. But you can find same quality in native, cheaper.
When you start to buy optional plugs, here they are essential.
As I have almost all options (and no more money
) I can't imagine working without them.
The other plugs (effects) I really use on a regular basis are Sonalksis comp, Altiverb, PSP's, Ohmforce's, Fabfilter's and some Nomad Factory. And some Logic's plugs, for their defaults
One very useful also is Wave Arts Masterverb : good sound quality, almost no CPU. But far from TC's optional... And maybe better than TC's basic

Some of the included fx are as you suggest, not that amazing.
BUT as you know the VSS3 (and DVR2 etc) reverbs are amazing, and in my opinion unbeatable by anything else in VST world.
The MD3 and Brickwall Limiter are also lauded as being among the best there is.
I'm going to replace my old Powercore with a new PCI version and will probably get an unplugged card, as I can't get enough of the System 6000 ported effects.
I can't compare them to a UAD as I don't own one of those cards, but I think the UAD might edge the Powercore for Compressors, but I'd be very surprised if the Reverbs came close to the quality of the Powercore optional ones.

I don't have anything against gravity but it really does weigh me down

btw TC users, how much plugins you can run on one card? is there any CPU use page in TC site?
if not, do you think the card will live with this amount of plugins?
2 MegaReverb, 2 ClassicVerb, 6 Vintage CL, 2 24/7•C, 4 Delays, 4 Character, 1 Filtroid and 1 VoiceStrip.

Hi again !
sorry, more than an hour
here are your answers :
about TC PoCo plugs
it was easier and faster to do it on my blog rather than here on KVR, because of the screen captures and so on. Hope KVR won't mind...
and don't worry, nothing to pay, nothing to download, or any other commercial meanings or purposes here.
just an answer
oh, and I'm not a TC employee or anything like that
and sorry for some english approximations !

Thanks alot sleepless, tell me, in the first pic i can see you have 4 cards runing right? so i guass its a BIG "NO" to what i asked... demm those cards are low power and thats sucks. I know this stuation bcus i have 3 UAD cards and i still need more power... I was thinking to get the TC PCI insted of one more UAD card and i think i will!, but to bad TC or UA dont have demos to hear the quality of the plugins...its like buying blind bcuz every person have diff opinion about quality, but i'm not soory i got the UAD i'm more then happy
anyway, thanks alot for great answer, halps alot to get the main pic of how much plugins you can run on the TC cards.
Cheers mate

Hi SideWalker
no, I only have two TC cards, one PCImkII and a FireWire
the 1-2-3-4 reports to the number of DSPs per card
so , your configuration in stereo (a bit unusual) could be on only card if it had 5 DSP.
look at the first picture : the 4 DSP of the PCImkII are busy, and "only" 89% of the first DSP (on four) are busy on the FiWi card.

Sorry to be a pain, but is there any possible way you can provide a demo to show how the VSS3 sounds ?
Maybe something with a huge tail.
If you could also provide the dry sample, I'd be very interested to see how different native verbs are.
Of course, only if you have some time.
Thanks
Fots
