TRIGGERING tracks in a live situation.

I am playing with a band that wants to experiment with playing with additional tracks and loops in the background.
What I am trying to do is allow the drummer to start a complete background drum track, or... to fire off various loops while he plays so he is not so strictly stuck to a set finish point for a song. I don't know how to do this, but I know with the receptor... its possible. I also want to keep this as a simple plug, nothing to crazy expensive or complex to use.
While we are at it, maybe someone can suggest a simple way to route this audio signal to the drummer without sending him all my keyboard sounds, as we are both sharing my receptor.

You could try an MP3 player VST on Receptor, for example Mp3play.

And for routing sounds to the drummer, you could just pan your keyboard sounds to the left, and his drum sounds to the right. You may not need stereo for live gigs. Or you could route his channels out the S/PDIF (and disable the "M" bus on S/PDIF).

I am doing the same live and the perfect solution for me is to use Ableton Live on a laptop. It never skips a beat and has all the features to be able to trigger loops. I wanted to use my receptor for that but I couldn't find a player plugin that suits my needs.

Any decent sampler should do this. Kontakt for example. Some of the older gen Native Instruments like Intakt would be great too.
Have a Roland drum pad like the SPD-s mounted to the kit and set to trigger the samples and you are golden.
This would be a great use of the Receptor too. It could have robust samples and some killer ways of effecting the samples, all trigged by the drummer.
