I don't really like this name. In fact I think it's terrible.

Sorry, but it just sounds like something from TRANCE or GOA
golden ages. Judging from name alone I would never say that
there might be some deep, modular and original
architecture underneath. Just another name used many times
for various things... with no reason at all.

The reasons Trapaki give are also a bit the (emotional) reasons why i also still have some doubts about Luna.

No big doubts, as i also definitely like Luna as a name

And "Luna Music Studio" sounds good, an sich.

But "Luna" is used so many times, in so many situations, and that makes it more cheap.

And the fact that it doesn't automatically associate to music software, is a weak point too, anyway. (weak, not dramatic).

If someone can find a better name, Be Welcome

NB: if we don't find a better name, no problem, "Luna" can continue, so let's make this a relaxed quest.

Some directives for a "better" name:

* original
* name sounds nice, easy, smart, funky
* easy association to music (software)
* starts with "Mu..." <-> so it fits in the MuTools product range (and i like cows

). no must though.

how about 'Segno', as in 'Dal Segno', since Coda, Finale, Overture etc have either been used or are more corny.

It could help the guys attractring the Segnoritas

[I know that was a truly appalling multilingual pun, but I did rather enjoy it!]

sfz has been done, and fff would be a little obscure..

How about?
MuLean - because it's a lean mean MusicMachine
MuLIH - Mutools Lean Instrument Host, also makes one think of
MuLi - so the picture of it being a reliable kind of workhorse instantly springs to mind. Could have a nice Logo, where a sophisticated cartoon muli with a doctoral cap happily carries a huge load of instruments, cheerfully humming a tune while doing that.

...and that would keep the L from the prerelease name, making it somewhat consistent.

MuF(F)in - because Mutools final sequencer is small and tasty
the more obvious ones:
MuSeq or MuZeq, MuDAW, MuHost
or we Mu the other way around with:
miniMu (free version) and maxiMu (full version), would sound a bit better than MuMin or MuMax.

Funnily enough I can't think of a better name than MuSician (or keep the z and stick to Muzycian but then it runs the risk of being too close to the defunct but presumably still copyrighted Muzys). Keeps a link the Mu but also sounds like a tool for people who write and make music inspired by their Muse as well as having a certain magic quality

Harkens back to when sequencers had names like Composer and Performer as well.

Awwwh, you did it. I was thinking of it, but did not dare posting it, since it's the programmers alias. But now THAT you did it, I sort of like it.
HMMM, and now that you mentioned it in your post, why not just MuSE after all?
MuSE - the meaning is obvious, but at the same time it's Muzys Second Edition, for those who 've been following the path for a longer period of time (any Atarians here?) it could be even MuzIMS ;).

It's simple and powerful, it sounds good, and has a clear direction towards music.

But the fact that no one responded to it implicitly makes it not good enough i assume.

Yes Muse is good too. I was also thinking of the names of the Muses but the name of the one who was the Muse of music is already taken by a tracker. Mnemosyne is nice though but not a "mu" name, and Calliope is also relevent perhaps.

Of course MUSE is a deliberate part of my name (and a name I use on several other forums)
