Weird. While the original patches may contain those characters (I unzipped them on the Windows box before copying them to the Macbook, so I wouldn't happen to know), they still unzipped fine. And they're loading fine into Zebra/Win as well. The filenames are somewhat modified, though. I should try to unzip them on the Mac again, just to nail down the problem. And yes, ">"s and ":"s are doing no good under Windows.codef0x wrote: As for the archive corruption, all of the issues seem to be filename-related. There are about 3 names in Bank A that aren't supported by the Windows filesystem, but on UNIX/Linux/Mac it's fine. Namely, < and : are the offending characters (I think : is illegal, anyway). Patch A090, A094, and A097, are offenders.
Btw, I'm using a very old version of WinRar (3.something), maybe that's why it worked fine for me but not for others (when using Windows' own unzipping thingy, the questionable patches don't even show up, but extraction of all the others is still working fine...).
However, time to really get some sleep now.
And yes, thanks again for all those folks submitting patches for Z2. You folks rock! Not sure whether I will ever supply anything worthwhile...

I happened to use 'unzip' on Linux; I have my Linux box mounted as a Windows drive and those particular patches really, really stood out as uncopyable when I moved it from my "R:" drive (Linux box) over to the Z2 preset area.

What is this Windoeth you speaketh of?
I'm sorry, I never really had a windows machine myself and hence I'm not familiar at all with the issues that can arise.
Thanks for converting the archive, Sascha.
Cheers

Basically windows does use unicode (yet). It's really still in the dos age in that respect. So anything you type an a non-windows machine which uses more than standard characters will cause problems. (anything which uses accents < > : etc.)
If you make cross platform names try to stick to letters, numbers and underscores.
Dots are in theory allowed, but windows manages to get confused by them still.

Can't wait to have the MSEG bug fixed so that Howard's updated bank with the first 11 factory patches of the Moog LP recreated

Just checked these out - oh - the filename thing - yeah, I discovered exactly the same issue when I'd finished the Transmission final bundle (on the Mac) and went to install them out of my PC - I had to go and rename a bunch of stuff which was a bit of a pain and a bit less clear than the original Mac version was. Ah PC's, we love to hate 'em...
As far as the Virus patches go - woa, that must have been quite some work! Were you copying settings, or tweaking the patches by ear until you could get as close as possible?
Would it be possible to do a few audio clips of the Virus patches side by side with the Zebra versions? I'd like to hear what the differences are, if any, for no other reason that curiosity, really.
But thanks for doing this and making these available. Much of that stuff is not really to my personal tastes, although there are a few in there I like a lot. But it's definitely an interesting excercise and I'm sure people will get a lot more usage out of these.
So, we must be getting close to around the 3K patch count, by now, eh?

Take this number with a grain of salt, and this includes Zircon's Vol 1 & 2 as well as Transmission, Tas' 900 preset tweak (and even a few of my terrible learning patches). There might even be a few duplicates:beej wrote:So, we must be getting close to around the 3K patch count, by now, eh?

@beej
I was copying by ear. Much faster for me personally. I wasn't going for the "noone can tell the difference" approach but rather the: that's the general idea of the patch and I'll get it to where Zebra does it good.
I'll do a couple side by side thingies, however, levels are an issue as are the point at which waveforms start.
The filters sound a little different, also the delay time is an issue a lot of times since right now we're only dealing with synced delays and I don't think the Virus syncs it but has free running delays.

Apologies for Zebra noobness...but do the Virus presets work with the ZebraCM edition that I've just finally got my hands on and am currently drooling over? Secondly are there more presets available in one centralised location/download? Not that I'm a preset whore - just that it's always enjoyable to hear what extent others more skilled than myself have obtained...

1. Nope. ZebraCM patches will load in Zebra2 but not the other way around. I've checked out some of the patches and they use a lot more of the modules than the ones found in ZebraCM.Spiggy wrote:Apologies for Zebra noobness...but do the Virus presets work with the ZebraCM edition that I've just finally got my hands on and am currently drooling over? 2. There's actually some work going on to aggregate patch banks. You might see something like that happening soon. As for now, you'll just have to scan this thread for urls.

OK,
here are a couple of the patches side by side.
First it's the Virus then Zebra.
Check out the screenshot to see what patches were used.

Where are these new presets? - can't see a preset exchange area on the Zebra site
