Thank you for making the .wav files available. I'm looking forward to stringing them together into GS3-compatible .gig files!!

I can't download either one of the files.
I'm on dial-up. I get to around 20% of the download and then it jumps to 100% and I get an incomplete file.
Since it jumps to 100% and says it is finished, I can't continue from where it left off to try to finish.

I tried the exact same thing, and the weirdest thing happened. Thanks for this! Just tried the soundfont in sfz on the internet-PC, and it sounds good even there with a not too good soundcard.
I got intense distortion - I thought that was what it was supposed to sound like, and was sort of disappointed, until I played a fifth and noticed it was giving me a powerchord like a guitar amp. I thought "cool - you can do that with a soundfont?"
Then I listened to the WAV files. No problem; sounds just like a clean electric bass. I went back to sfz and turned off the effects. Same deal - heavy distortion. It might even be musically useful; it sounds kind of neat. It's even slightly different in character (and pan position) depending on which output channel I use (this SoundMAX thing has six channels).
I tried a different soundfont, and there was no distortion. Reloaded the bass, and the distortion was back.
Is this font really loud or something? I'm just idly curious; I don't think this will be a problem on a music PC running a major sampler.

I did try this out in SFZ before I posted it and it sounded okay - loud, sure... But no distortion.
It's supposed to sound like a clean, warm bass guitar.
Does it distort on other computers..?

Okay, I solved it. I tried it on my music PC, through an E-MU 1212M, and the meters in PatchMix indicate heavy clipping. This is evident when listening to notes at decreasing velocity; the distortion turns into a buzz that's either there or not (a classic signature of hard clipping) and then disappears completely.
It fooled me at higher gain, though... I didn't know digital clipping plus laptop speakers could sound that much like a guitar pedal...
I tried the VSTi version of sfz and I got the same thing. It's manageable, because in Cubase you have a volume control on the output, but I turned it down 15 dB and it was still pegging the meter.

Whoa...
That's scary.
I tried it in SFZ inside Chainer and, like I said, it seemed fine. It also worked okay in my friend's PC Audigy card.
I'll edit the SF2 file this weekend. Problem with Vienna is, when you make soundfonts there's no indication of level so it's pretty much guesswork. Looks like I over estimated a bit.
I can assure you though, the samples themselves do not distort.
Thanks for the feedback.
