They're in this thread. Not on the Zebra site yet. Go back a page, or look from the beginning to find all of them.
I you're talking about the Transmission bank, that is sold here:

Hey, thanks for doing that Hans. Interesting. There's something about the output of the Virus that I find pleasing, but it's difficult to understand what it is (especially without actually having one in front of me to play with).wonshu wrote:here are a couple of the patches side by side.
First it's the Virus then Zebra.
Maybe it's the filter code, maybe it's the output convertors, dunno. But it's that character I've found difficult or impossible to recreate as mentioned before. It just seems to have a "quality" that I quite like...
I wonder what would happen to the Zebra sounds run out through some analog I/O or processing I/O and back in...?

It definitely has to do with the filters in my opinion. I was always looking at the spectrum while recreating the sound. Zebras filers seem to a) not go up quite as far as the Virus' (they stop at around 16k) and b) you can really here the missing air up there.
Also, Zebra seems to be a lot stronger on the bottom end of the sound than the Virus but with having a sort of pressing quality while the Virus has a more gentle low end.
But don't forget: Zebra is NOT and emulation of a Virus. They are two different instruments and I'm just pointing out the differences that I encountered here.
Also: I found that the LP Allround and LP Middrive come closest to what the Virus does but with a lot steeper curve and less air.
Oh well.... enough...
It was fun while it lasted, maybe I'm going to create patches from another synth sometime. We shall see.
Cheers

No, still a very different quality (not as in better or worse, but as in different) the filters, less airy, I don't know how to else describe it.

Yes I know but its 14 pages long adn I thought the idea of a preset area is they would all be in one place.Sascha Franck wrote:Just look for the links in this very thread, aMUSEd.

Hm, maybe, for the time being, Urs could just update the first post in this thread.aMUSEd wrote: Yes I know but its 14 pages long adn I thought the idea of a preset area is they would all be in one place.

Maybe your "air" is due to the serial/parallel mix of the Virus filters? I've tried emulating Virus-style routing, but can't quite get my head around it yet...wonshu wrote:No, still a very different quality (not as in better or worse, but as in different) the filters, less airy, I don't know how to else describe it.
Personally, I haven't found that Z2 is losing more highs than the Virus. However, my EARS are 53 years old, and now feature 6-pole lowpass filters with a cutoff set to somewhere around 12k

Hi Howard,
I'm not just trusting my ear, although, I can still here clearly up there. But also in the analyzer you can see that there is something different going on.
BTW: (Urs is going to kill me... probably) I just installed the original factory patches. Turned out, Urs had some other patches on his Virus and I'm recreating those. So expect another big bank of patches in a couple of weeks. Anyway, I have found that yes, I have to go parallel and use a lot of the BP RezBand Filter to recreate that air. It's fun to recreate those patches and I think the users will love them.
Cheers

Hans, you're dead. The original factory presets *were* on it and you have probably deleted the patches that I collected over the years...
(not that I need them though... what you call "Air" is what I call "Aggressive Bite", which is why I doin't like the red bugger)

I've also downloaded the Sounddiver thingy for the Virus and can now see what's going on in the patches and I think what I hear does in fact, just as Howard said, have to do with Filters being used in parallel. And a lot of HP filters and high bandpasses (like I've started doing for the emulation of the factory banks).
It may also have to do with aliasing that I see so much "stuff" going on in the analyzer above 15-16k since at the time the Virus A come out, aliasing wasn't something that people really talked about and manufacturers didn't exactly worry that much about just yet, because it wasn't common knowledge.
But: you guys can look forward to a nice collection of patches once I'm finished with the factory banks.
Oh, I forgot: I'm dead, so maybe it takes a while longer.
Cheers
