If you have a patch with a longer release time, then in mono modes the releases would be cut off to play the next note that came along, as we only have one voice, as you mentioned above. Depending on the patch settings, this could be a big effect, especially when taking into account filter envelopes for each note as well.
Some envelopes also "climb" in various ways - Minimoogs do for instance, I'm not sure offhand whether Zebra does (I don't think so), but other synths like impOSCar do this as well, as this may also affect things depending on the voice settings.
I'm not sure offhand whether the legato mode would come into play as arpeggiated notes probably can't overlap anyway and thereby move between notes staying in the sustain phase without retriggering the attack, but I'm not sure from memory what happens when you tie steps together and change the pitch without going and looking...
Best thing to do is have a play, really, and see what the bhaviour is. I have to say I personally haven't found that only having a poly arp mode has caused me problems - I never really even stopped to think about it before, to be honest...

Hm, thanks again, beej. I'll think about this. But maybe I'm just not enough of a synth expert to even realize there's such issues.
Btw, so far I'm still sure this could probably be solved somehow using the arp modulation, but I might be totally wrong. For the umpteenth time, it's a tough challenge for me to even realize what this is all about

I'm "sure this could probably" not be solved in this waySascha Franck wrote:...so far I'm still sure this could probably be solved somehow using the arp modulation
(sorry Sascha, I'm feeling more than a bit pugnaceous today!
Zebra2 could do with a mono/poly button in the arpeggiator tab.

Fwiw, I think, that by now, I sort of understand the problem.

Beautiful!
For some reason it doesn't sound QUITE as good as the first bank (maybe I'm just delusional) but slap light external effects on it and they come to life very, very nicely!
Thanks very much!
EDIT: The XY controls are very, very, very nice too! So much more playable tweaking those on-the-fly...

Yeah, this time I remembered to put it into my initialize patch so I wouldn't have to do it all the time. That's why they're all the same, but I think this setup is rather clever.

Yes - that was essential for me too when working on Transmission.
Of course, each individual patch has individual requirements, but I created a bunch of default setups and I also relied on a few perl scripts to copy sections of the H2P files between patches, which was also a lifesaver.
But still everything needed to be tweaked manually - but it's really cool when people include XY stuff like this, because you can quickly tailer each sound to your own tastes, even if you don't really know what's going on under the hood.
It's why I included specific XY setups in all the patch templates too, as it takes 90% of the work out of remembering to add them into your own patches, when using templates as starting points.
Cool patches BTW, nicely added to the huge ever-growing pulsating collection that rules from the centre of our u-he world...

As i never owned i don't know the original virus sound, but these patches played from Zebra are great!
I've tried them with arpeggiator and chords plugs in Ableton...they sounded very fat and large sometimes!
Only one thing, some patches, like 072, have an excessive volume compared to the others, i've played about 5-10 patches with this "over-volume".
Anyway thank you for the patch-share!
