I remember hearing that the sound was actually a preset called "sandstorm" - could've been even the RM1X he was (ab)using at the time - hence the name of the track. This is just hearsay, though.

My girlfriend has mutual friends with Darude, so I've emailed her to ask one of them if they could answer the question.
I've sent a link to the thread so be nice.

I have a rather decent recreation of it for Sytrus that I got from a forum; I think it was Flipside Fr00ty forum. I can post it here, when I get back to home.
A z3ta+ (factory probably) bank also includes a recreation. It's called Sandstorm. I don't remember the bank.

Here's the Sytrus patch. It's fairly simple. Made by Toxicator.

The z3ta+ version is in the default factory bank. The name's "Sandstorm".

Source:DJ Ron: Where did you get the inspiration for that oscillating sound in "Sandstorm?"
Darude: You tell me... What I usually do is just going thru samples and sounds in my synthesizers and adding effects and delays etc and when I come up with a good sound and a melody with it I just start building other stuff around it.

How many nerds are gonna ask how to get the sandstorm sound? They've been doing it for years now.

As much nerds as it takes for someone to make a good remix of it, or use the sound in a good fashionfrequency_algorithm wrote:How many nerds are gonna ask how to get the sandstorm sound? They've been doing it for years now.
