OK, your senselessness is starting to bore me and I prefer to sleep. Good night.whyterabbyt wrote:Oh dear god.Shy wrote:Again a wrong analogy. Red is a color and it's hardly subjective.
So when is red not red but purple instead?

Nobody really "got" EmptySquare (though I still answer email to that address)
NuBi3 was too restrictive
fxPointAudio is "just right"

"Yamaha designed their aliasing to be 'smart', but I cant prove it because 'smart' is subjective, so it must be true. 'Red', however is not subjective. There is only one shade of red and no-one would ever get that shade confused with any other reddish shade of any other colour".Shy wrote: OK, your senselessness is starting to bore me and I prefer to sleep. Yes and im saying you dont know what aliasing is, and how it comes about, specificly in regards to FM synthesis.Shy wrote:nollock: if I consider aliasing that sounds good smart, I say it's smart.
You are pontificating about things you do not understand.
There's so much wrong with your definitions. Firstly in all but a few quirky homebrew VSTi aliasing is never intentional. It is somthing developers try to reduce, minimize, get rid off.I'd consider synths with intentional aliasing that sounds bad, synths that have unintelligent aliasing. It's that simple. I don't think there's anything "wrong" with my definitions,
To sugest aliasing was intentional in the yamaha FM synths is plain wrong, it was just an artifact of the algorythms. Like pixelation in early computer graphics. It wasn't there by design, but because the processing power was not enough to reduce it.
The only practical thing (apart from oversampling) that can be done to reduce aliasing in FM is keyscaling the modulation index. Which is what Yamaha did. But that is not somthing specific to yamaha implementations.
People are mocking you because you are saying things that are simply not true, your use of terms is wrong, you simply dont know what you are talking about.but people who like mocking others and mixing objectiveness with subjectiveness, and are maybe a little too tight assed, apparently do.
Now it may simply be that you have you terms mixed up or cant explain yourself very well but non the less what you have written in this thread is mostly jibberish.
And you at some point have to realize that most of the people mocking you know a lot more about it than you do.

Hmm, interesting. Very interesting! Extremely interesting! I can't wait to unveil the result now...thorkz wrote:While X and Y for me are both what I'm used from floating point. They both loose bass. Y is a little worse in the high freq distortion department. It gets "foggy" if you tweak to extreme. The sound gets sourrounded by some "clowd" that gets really hot on my ears.
X is somthing in between ( not integer though), it also gets clowdy, but has a little better high end.
To me Z is of much higher quality.
and Urs: your abstract about that aliasing was fabulous!

I'm not sure, but maybe there is anyone who still likes to try it out for itself. What I can say at the moment is, that 'thorkz' payed a much intention to it.pj geerlings wrote:So - what are you waiting for ???

Unfortunately it still won't heal the thread. But the result _IS_ interesting. At least for me. It might be irrelevant for FM synthesis, but it's interesting in case of an EQ.
However if anyone likes to get the password to see the results, just contact(*) me.

PS: (*) Just installed Skype today. I really don't like it because it is proprietary. However there was still some space on the windows partition of my new macbook. It is already draggled by windows itself, so it doesn't hurt that much.

Maybe the test plugin is not working properly with my host, but I hear zero difference. Plus phase inverted tests always reveal differences so low they're irrelevant.
