But moving the wave button while listening (holding a note) to the "wrong" wave changes it, no?

Post

It definitley does something weird. If you're at,say wave position 4.0 and load a new wave,it does'nt get updated at position 4.0. All other positions plays the new wave except for 4.0. It does go away after a while but i still have'nt found a pattern to it. Playing different notes does'nt help, clicking on the squares at the bottom does'nt help and changing the wave parameter on the oscillator does'nt help. At least not immediatly. After a while it behaves correct.
thats exactly what I've observed.

I can do further testing to help but not before weekend ...

Strange, I swear it worked for me.

I loaded 2 waves (slot 1 and 12) in the converter, saved the file, then opened Cubase + Zebra2, loaded the new osc wave in the default sound. Then, when I clicked on the little wave icons, I could hear my new waves morphing from one into the other.

Very hard to see a pattern here. If i load a new table with the wave position at 4.0 and move the slider up it is still wrong when i go down to 4.0. But if i continue down and go up to 4.0 again it is correct.

If i have the wave position at 1.0 the problem is a lot more persistent but eventually goes away after playing lots of notes and moving the wave slider.

It does for me too however there's some "residue" from the previous wave that was loaded before. It goes away after a while.

EDIT: Dear God. Please don't let this be my fault. I'd hate to have wasted a lot of people's time for nothing.

That's called beta-testing. It's completely accepable if it's for a good cause ! :D

Well if i've wasted your and others who tried my programs, time. So be it,you knew what you where in for. :D
The real fear is if i've taken development time away from Z2 for nothing. I'd hate for Urs to spend time on something and it'd turn out in the end it was me who was at fault all along.

Pleas again Dear God. Don't let it be that way. :D

Anybody able to port this bad boy to Mac ?

Post

I just wanted to say that i talked to a guy yesterday who has a Mac and we will look into a Mac port when Z2 gets updated. I don't quite see the point in doing it before that. I'm not 100 % promising a Mac port. Only that i will look into it but it'll probably happen. Kinda depends on how tricky the port is. I got the impression that it was'nt at all but i don't know for sure.

I've just uploaded the new version that exports all 16 waves. Note that if you use it on an older version it will crash Zebra2 so make sure you have Z22b4. For those of you who have'nt upgraded the old version is included as well.

I have'nt done so much testing but since i omly chaged one number from 2 to 6 i can't imagine i've introduced any new bugs. Let me know if you run into something.

EDIT:Fix some misinformation.

http://www.u-he.com/Zebra22b1AU.zip Beta 1 for AU will do

(beta2-beta4 were Win specific fixes)

aaahhh.. a converter for the Sampels, as i tried the demo of Zebra i thought it would be great importing my own Sounds, nice that this is working.. Is the Mac Version UB and still working....?

The Wav2Zebra2 is Windows only for the moment. A Mac port could happen in a month or so but i'm promising that. Only that the possibility is there. 8)

Zebra2 is Mac UB though and can use the files from the Wav2Zebra2.

any chance of this being built directly into zebra?

It's on my list.

I have had good reason *not* to put anything like that into Z2 though - If it was in there, this would be the most used feature to create waveforms. But the most *powerful* feature are the "Morph" modes rather than the "Blend" modes. With GeoMorph/SpectroMorph modes you simply get more spectacular and detailed results, which you can get out of no other synth known to me. In contrast to that, loading and crossfading single waves is something that many synths can do. Thus, Zebra's real potential is somewhere else, but unfortunately you can't just load/analyse waveforms to unleash it.

If you look at ZebraCM for instance, it has 15 complex, seamless transitions within a single waveset, based on the GeoMorph setting. One simply can't do that with sample-based stuff, it's only possible with the spline/curve based architecture.

Cheers,

;) Urs

I totally love scanning those waveforms in ZebraCM, it can add subtle movement or make a big psychedelic effect, or anything in between.
