Just tried MFM in Ext together with Sonicbytes ERA, CM 505 and Waldorf Attack. It doesn't work.
After having got the license i made some presets together with Harptime and it worked fine, the next day with FM8 it worked as long as i didn't change from 'init' to another preset. Today the same. I didn't have the cpu-peaks this time, but not a single tone could be heard. Then i took Camel Space-demo instead: no probs.
So, what's going on here with MFM?

As it so happened, I ended up buying the licence before I even looked back hereUrs wrote:I have decided to maybe do this on new plugins, but not on updates of existing stuff... for instance, when the compressor comes out, I'd send a voucher to those who already have 2+ plugs...
What I already do is keeping the upgrade costs low, so that existing customers don't need to be scared of being ripped off with each and every update. Even the adddition of new plugin formats such as RTAS will be free...

eeep, after months of solidity with the previous beta, the new beta just crashed taking down my whole computer. cpu was pinned so hard at 100% that I couldn't even ditch reaper via the task manager, but had to perform a cold reset.
details - reaper in xp with core2duo. I had a bunch of other plugins running on that channel (stylus rmx into ohmicide and retroband (the demo)). I had been switching between ohmicide and retroband, but I think that retroband was bypassed and ohmicide active at the time of the crash. Had quite a few other channels running as well. As above, the crash occurred while changing patches.

Might be the MSEG bug that also occasionally causes problems with Z2. I'm at it, but d'oh... it's a tough one...
Which preset is it?

I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't note this. in penance, I also spent the rest of the day trying to reproduce it but nothing so far. will keep trying. i'm using mfm in a lot of projects and I don't need the anxiety of wondering when the system is going to go down...

Urs,
hold that thought. I have been unable to reproduce the crash even though I've certainly reproduced the behaviour that I thought led to the crash. In the interim I've had the same crash again (twice) but with another plug (kerrstin). And this plug just happens to have been on another channel in the same project as the original crash. I didn't think it had anything to do with the problem because I hadn't touched it for quite some time and I was changing presets on mfm when things went awry. But now I'm not so sure, especially since the crashes were exactly the same as my earlier one - i.e. initial sluggishness that rapidly increased into total system lockup.
I'll continue investigating...

Is there any way to apply feedback to individual delay lines rather than globally?

Argggh - haven't been keeping up, and just preordered to get rid of the noise bursts....but now I'll have to wait! Intolerable! (just joking, kind of. You can't make products this good and expect people to be patient)
Edit - oh - it's here - took about 15 minutes or so.

Why do you have to wait? - When I'm up, I send codes within 10 minutesdroolmaster0 wrote:Argggh - haven't been keeping up, and just preordered to get rid of the noise bursts....but now I'll have to wait! However, shame on me... I have not yet been able to send a proper newsletter. I'm fighting my SQL annoyance while trying to maintain a set of 8 or so weird tables, trying to identify registered MFM1 users, separating them from those who already have codes for MFM2 and checking all other details for updates of their email addresses. Yes, I've been sloppy when I started in 2002. Who would've thought that I'd at one point cross 50 registered users?!? The fact that my mailboxes carry tenthousands of emails, distributed over 4 computers (G4->G5->MBP->MonsterMac), which I have to scan for "My email address has changed"... d'oh...
And I don't even know if the G4 will boot at all. It has got partitions for MacOS 8.6, 9.2, X10.0beta, X10.1 & X10.2.8 on it. Each with its own mailboxes...
Sigh...
Nevermind. Yesterday I added Filters as Matrix FX, today I worked out a concept for the missing compressor. People wanted ducking delay, right?

Edit: Hold on, that means MFM has to be able to analyze the input signal, no?
Hint, hint...
Sorry, couldn't resist

Audio input level as a modifier... or soUrs wrote: What are you hinting at?
Seriously, that'd just rock my MFM world. Even better if it was available as a sidechain as well, so, whenever I feed MFM with a distorted signal (which barely changes its level, it only distorts less when turning the guitar down) I could still use the dry signals amplitude for modulation tasks. Let alone that a sidechain input could be good for quite some further geekiness as well.
I know, I know!Hint: Envelope Followers can be found in Filterscape
