I can finally play a 13GB piano lib (SampleTekk 7CG) with 256 polyphony with NO GLITCHING and no maxing the CPU. We are talking huge Emerson piano runs with the sustain pedal down, and it's just freaking perfect. Likewise I loaded the 24-bit Scarbee KGB (Rhodes) and it's unbelievable how easy on the CPU it is now.
This is music to my ears.....
If I could have chosen one thing to have improved this would have been it. I am excited to try some of my larger piano libraries. Although Ivory has been working well - I am psyched to load up the full version of White Grand, scripts and all, and give it a go.

Wasn't the whole deal with 1.6 that the whole plug-in install proces was changed so that we could run windows installers? In that case updating EP to 1.5 shouldn't pose a problem right?
And does Massive work as well? Would love to run it on the receptor.

I have heard that here in the forum, however, I don't see any evidence of it (running windows installers that is) in the Beta 1.6 I have.

However, thanks to looneytoons and this FABULOUS thread:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=179044

...I now know how to run windows installers from my putty ssh client. I have done this with MANY plugins the last two weeks, including the Arturia legacy collection, and gotten those and others to work this way that I could NEVER get to work using my old method of registry hacking (like Ravity!).

But I digress! I suppose one could run the EP 1.5 updater via ssh (or the OS 1.6 thing that I haven't seen yet), and since the NI Service Center app runs, you could activate it and be in business. Two things keep me from doing this: 1) I don't use EP since I have the Scarbee KGB which runs BEAUTIFULLY under Kontakt2 now and blows the doors off EP (and yes I have 1.5 on my PC) and 2) the Muse guys indicated there was some prob with EP 1.5 they were working out...they ask me if I wanted to wait on getting my unit back on this and I said no, EP 1.0 is fine by me....I do like the GUI ;-)

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to add that I was looking at Ivory on a Beta of 1.6 -- I was hard-pressed to make any glitches/crackles at any buffer size and sample playback speed. To me, it is truly amazing how responsive and expressive sample players have become for complex instruments like piano. Ivory was already very good pre-1.6, who knew it could get better?

which Ivory - the original or with the new Italian Grand? That's the one I am dying to get into my Receptor

Post

I was evaling Ivory 1.5 on OS 1.6 Beta. Italian Grand requires a muse installer for Ivory 1.6.

My Italian Grand DVD is also waiting to jump out of the box and onto my Receptor, but hasn't yet.

FWIW, I am under the impression that 1.6 is more of a major bug fix release and that it would be v2 before the Windows installers would be launchable.

I would not mind being wrong, but that's my understanding. Muse, I'd love it if you owould correct me. :)

have to agree, i was hoping mainly for the windows installer ability in this update...really want to use my non-receptorized plugins (like amplitube2 and ampeg). honestly...the box has been sitting around mainly unused due to some missing plugins (and also--i'm kinda lazy enough to not want to turn on another box if i'm running my computer for the main plugin i use) -- was hoping the receptor became more of the box i used and the computer was the one collecting more dust.... :( --hopefully soon?!

No list on the official features that I can post, but I'm happy to let you in on what's coming.

V1.6 is primarily an "under the hood" update that facilitates some cool future updates that are on their way. Most of the improvements involve handling plug-in installation, with the big news being support for Komplete 4. Sounds trivial, I know, but it definitely wasn't.

There have been several improvements to sampler performance that are in 1.6, focussed around Kontakt, but also affecting ivory in a big way. We've substantially reduced CPU spiking with things like Kontakt, taken care of some sample load issues, and if you can believe, optimized Ivory even more than before (and made the changes necessary so that The Italian Grand can run).

Other than that, there are a ton of little fixes that improve overall performance and stability even further.

The coolest feature I think is a new feature for snapshots. It allows you to create snapshots as you normally do, but then assign one particular channel to send the "snapshot preset" program changes. The other MIDI channels can be assigned to send their preset changes DIRECTLY TO THE PLUG-IN, allowing you to keep all your sampler-based plug-ins preloaded while sending program changes to things like B4, Atmosphere, or whatever. A simple feature, yes, but with really big implications for people who are playing live.

We were just about to release it when one of the beta testers reported a bug that required us to hold it back... but with any luck, we should have it available for download in the next two weeks. (appendages crossed).

Thanks for your patience, and sorry we haven't been better and keeping you guys in the loop.

Sorry for sounding dense but, By "N.I. Complete" are you implying that Reaktor will be able to run on Receptor?

Post

Is there any way of becoming a beta tester?
I think i could be of great help since i use the Receptor both as a multieffects unit and as a synthesizer controlling it with Terratec Axon 100MKII guitar to midi converter. Where there is a big need for being able to control the Receptor also with 2 footcontrollers....
