The following is empirical: It's always the tune-Windows-until-it-hurts guys that are complaining about Windows being unstable, having data-loss and crackling. Take this for a laugh.platinumears wrote:Pädy wrote: there is no point in "tuning" windows. It's a very good and fast music OS right out of the box.![]()

"Out of the box" XP has the MIDI timing of a drunk elephant on stilts playing the kazoo during an earthquake!Pädy wrote: It's always the tune-Windows-until-it-hurts guys that are complaining about Windows being unstable, having data-loss and crackling. Take this for a laugh.
You may be right that it is useless to try to improve on this though..

well when I click on centre panning it shows this: 2.08e-017 instead of 0.00 well it doesn't bug me so much but I just wanted to ask if anybody else noticed the same?

Yes, me. But I haven't seen it for quite a while. I thought this was a bug that has been sorted out long ago.Mulberry wrote:well when I click on centre panning it shows this: 2.08e-017 instead of 0.00 well it doesn't bug me so much but I just wanted to ask if anybody else noticed the same?

Heya all,
I took the leap this weekend and purchased this great piece of software
I have some questions though (mind you I'm used to FL Studio)
1) Is there a quick way to delete an automation curve ?. I see a button to delete the points on a curve, but how to remove the entire curve at once.
2) Can an automation curve be smooth, ie non-linear ? Would be nice if not presently possible.
3) I can't find a way to "pre"-transpose the input from midi-keyboard. (This can be done in FLS by shifting the root-key on the virtual keyboard panel). I know how to transpose an already entered midi-note, but would like to hear the transposed notes in advance (while playing keyboard / recording).
4) I have tried out StepChild and it seems to me that the steps are "reversed", 16 first step to the right, 16 last steps to the left (of the blue middle line). Is this intented to be so ??
Thanks for any input !
Cheers

hi jules and i everybody
i downloaded the demo of tracktion and what can i say...it's just brilliant, thanks a lot for this wonderful piece of software
...then...
what i suggest is...
a TEMPO MAP...or something to allow tempo changes
...then...2 questions
how does tracktion deal with zero crossing points?
and then...is there any directX support?
thanks a lot, i think i'll buy tracktion next week
(i've been working with nuendo and logic and this is for sure the greatest mutltitrack since the old SAWPro (wich now is kind of a dinosaur)

The built-in pitch shifter plug in will also transpose MIDI - just place it before any VSTi on your track. Obviously this doesn't record the transposed part, but the plug takes negligible CPU power.travisdk wrote:3) I can't find a way to "pre"-transpose the input from midi-keyboard.

But, if you put Thalamus into the chain, you can record the midi to a file and paste it back in your track.hanson_rp wrote:The built-in pitch shifter plug in will also transpose MIDI - just place it before any VSTi on your track. Disclaimer: I actually haven't tried this yet, but it sounds like this will do just that.

bobaudio & hanson_rp thank you both for your suggestions regarding
"transpose" issue.
For now I will use the Pitch plugin although I think it should be an integral part of the midi input setup as an option.
BTW is routing of midi input possible in Tracktion, ie. routing lower keys to bass track and higher keys to a lead track ?
Cheers

To answer my own question ... yes it's possible, use a combination of MidiYoke / MidiOX + midi channel filtering within Tracktion and of you go.. cumbersome but possibletravisdk wrote:BTW is routing of midi input possible in Tracktion, ie. routing lower keys to bass track and higher keys to a lead track ?

Not sure if this is OT or not, but does Tracktion support automation of VST Effect parameters (rather than VST Instrument)?
Is there any host that is able to, or is it a limitation of the VST spec.
Thanks,
