hi, i have a load of midi drum files and as the drum track can be played with a midi controller keyboard i thought i might be able to route a midi track to a drum track to play a kit but it doesnt seem possible. i know this is a lazy way to build a drum beat but sometimes its a good starting point, i hope the routing in general becomes more broader

I was just thinking that it would be good to be able to create a new kit out of multiple kits.
It's pretty rare that I just re-use a single kit, I tend to mix and match items from here and there along with loops etc...
So if I drag in kitA and kitB and decide I like the kick and snare from kitA but the hats from kitB, I'd like to easily be able to make kitC, so that I have one drum track instead of two.
XT2 still has access to the individual wave data in a kit. Maybe we should have drag-n-drop from the drum editor into a new drum track.
Regards
Caleb

Drum Track FRs
- it would be much better if the trigger notes started at B0 (MIDI 35) not C1 (MIDI 36) as that is where the General MIDI Drum sounds start);
- when the track is closed only the hits for the first drum are shown in the part, showing the hits for the other drums would be valuable;
- you should be able to delete a drum without opening it;
- the tools for drum hit entry and Vol/Pan/Cutoff setttings should be the same as those for the MIDI Part, including multiple selection, dragging through the events to set the values and the line tool.

some esoteric FRs
+ note logic (e.g. beat could be set to play/mute every x number of bars/loops etc.)
+ probability (e.g. set the beat to be randomly triggered 75% of the time)
+ split beat (e.g. set a beat to be non-destructively played as a triplet or double)
+ programmable pattern sequencer (program patterns and sequence these instead of the beats e.g. A1,A2,C2,D2 or use names like 'fill', 'intro', 'breakbeat' etc)

Hey charlie - I like your note logic etc... ideas.
However, I was thinking it would be good if that sort of stuff can be built in such a way that we can use it for midi parts, drum tracks and audio parts (with audio slices for example).
I was also thinking that groove fx when it makes its return could also fit in here.
When jorgen announced that the Composer functionality for XT2 was going to be extended and was going to work on both midi and audio, it set my imagination ablaze and I think we can the philosophy should be extended. Groove FX on audio "clips", probability in midi parts and vice versa - all able to be applied to drum tracks as well. Isn't that a world you'd love to live in?
As for the programmable pattern sequencer, XT2 as a whole is going to be a programmable pattern sequencer so I think you'll have what you want covered.

not that handy for drum controllers, even if B0 is often used in GM, most of the time kick is C1 and so on. B0 is often just another kick, or sometimes the same kick. so most of percu controllers have kick on a C.- it would be much better if the trigger notes started at B0 (MIDI 35) not C1 (MIDI 36) as that is where the General MIDI Drum sounds start);

Sample playback speed (related to the time stretching)
Pitch (related to the time stretching)
Amp Envelopes values (ADSR)
(speaking of envelopes, Switch between block effect mode and envelope
Bandpass filter
Insert mute
Resonance
Reverse
Send to Send Effect or enable insert effect

Need soon:
-Decay
-Replace samples
-Load bank
-Reorder drums
-Automate pitch
Need eventually:
-Add outs
-use vst as drum sound
-use synth "sound" as drum sound (mostly need envelopes, vel to param mappings and lfos, but combining the drum object with the vst wrapper object and the synthesizer object would be incredible!)
-use instrument portion of .xtc only
-use "part" portion of .xtc only (right now adding an .xtc to a drum track will add drums to drum sampler AND corresponding triggers from clip)

.xtc is great, I love it, but being able to select what it would be made of would be so great. A simple reference to the samples...soma wrote: -use instrument portion of .xtc only

I think we should be able to decide which slot is triggered by which note. Like this we can trigger more than one slot with the same note.
