-Compressor
-be able to export or better drag and drop from your program to and midi track
-and a roll function like the mpc or a button that you can press like shift or Control on you keyboard then when you touch your midi controller it will roll
-be able to be press one but and set up the midi controller and the program
-from 8 bit to 24 -192
- a nice interface with real buttons
-a record function in stand a lone and vsti
- host time sync
- vsti, DXI, Rtas, AU (DXI)
- sample preview
and a rearranger (if you made a beat you can twist a knob and it will rearrange your beat)
- expansion kits later on for upgrades sounds
- internal sample editor (oh my god) so you will not have to fix your beat in sound forge or wavelab or if you cant do that then it need something in the options that says sample editor and you pick the exe file then you can export it and reimport it

See the problem with the 2 top drums machines are: Battery does not have a step sequencer (but it has every sound format) and guru need more sound formats (mp3, kni, ect) but it has a step sequencer
Seems to me like you need Guru for the most part. ;)

oh, and by the way, they'd like all of this to cost absolutely no more than $35.00...with a group buy before release that could bring the price to just under $12.00 if 6 and a half people sign up. :P

I need high-quality output, so I would need at least 16-bit WAV files, 24-bit would be very good, but not entirely necessary.

16-bit wav? I'm not sure it's possible with today's technology. :P

Kiddin me? Kitted up with two Johnson rods and a high quality Ultra Convertor, and you can get 4 bits in series, yielding close to 15 bits. Round it off and there you go!
Why cry about your own desires, when I could have them and leave you standing in the sadness of your own....

I'm surprised about the voting results as of now. No seems to be winning.

Something between shortcircuit and Majken's Grizzly will satisfy enough.

Well, let me put it this way: I wouldn't really need to slice them if I only wanted to use them "as is". Proper timestretching would suffice for that.
So, very often I use sliced loops for a start, to get inspired or to simply have a proper groove to work out other parts. But whenever I start to work on the groove itself, I usually edit a lot, mainly in the MIDI domain (I always slap the exported MIDI file into my sequencer of choice), but sometimes (especially when dealing with more artificial sounds) I may as well fool around with the individual slices' sonic quality.

Having said all that, for me, the perfect drumsampler would be a combination of ReCycle (slicing), Battery (standard cell based drum sampling on stereoids), Guru (nice pattern editor and great in context previeving options for both sounds and patterns) and Stylus (perfect integration of grooves and MIDI pattern dragging to host). Oh well, and perhaps add a bit of Liveslice to it as well.
But it may as well come in a simpler variation. Lightweight and quick to work with is always a good idea.

"Drum samplers" abound. What the world needs is a COMPLETE software sampler. Nothing like this exists.

Halion, Kontakt, and the others have taken serious shortcuts that render these useless to samplists. At a minimum, a competent software sampler needs to have:

1. FULLY IMPLEMENTED drag-and-drop (to/from VST host)
2. Basic waveform editing (copy/paste, truncation)
3. Preferably, the ability to sample and resample AUDIO

None of the current softsamplers provide this. 112db Morgana is close, and so is DirectWave, but neither of these are available on Mac.

Developers, it's really true. A complete software SAMPLER is badly needed out here in the real world. You can develop yet-another me-too "drum sampler" but you probably won't be able to sell a lot of copies of it.

Resampling is an especially overlooked function. Really handy for those times you want to reapply effects, like timestretch upon timestetch, etc.

We at 112dB would be happy to discuss (preferably on our forum) what you think is missing from Morgana wrt the above. While Morgana isn't intended to be the be-all end-all of software samplers, any features that improve upon its general useability (especially to samplists) have our undivided attention.

No arguing with that, but at the same time I'm happy to report we're making good progress with the OSX port of Morgana. Once we have an OSX beta you'll be the first to hear!

I'd like to see the ability to properly import .kit and .kt2 files. Some of us would like an alternative to Battery but be able to bring our kits with us.

well i just wanted to be able to load old 8-bit wavs really, not a bitcrusher fx,
vsts mostly do 16/24 so any extra file types would be good.
hey,but dragndrop/beatdetection-algo-slicer sounds great.
really you can't have too many of those.
is stretching individual slices possible?
if it is and there's enough slices available, then it would be good for voice chops too. :)

I really agree with this!

People look at me like I'm crazy when I say the "perfect" drum machine/sampler doesn't exist yet, but here's some solid reasons why.

Morgana looks cool for a sampler, but I don't see how it would be ideal for a *drum* solution.

Most of the things yall listed are in GURU. Has anyone even tried it out? Most people aren't aware of all the things GURU can do.

Now off to download the latest version....:hihi:
