Hey all, I've just found my first AAR bug. I was working on a track with 4 instances of AAR. I opened one instance of it and adjusted the Room Size, I heard a loud pop and the sound went dead. The meters in Cubase showed the left channel having a constant loud signal while the right channel had no signal.

I then attempted to reproduce the problem. I managed to reproduce the problem with a single instance of AAR. To reproduce the same condition, I had to move the room size fader for around 30 sec - 1 minute. The problem once again produced the above effects, but also I managed to Crash Cubase doing this.

Here's the preset I was using...

I'll do my best to get more info for you on this one, it's a little tricky to demonstrate since it doesn't happen every since it is not easy to reproduce consistently.

Please see my sig for computer specs.

Hope you can help, I love this effect!

Cheers

Hello Fots,

thanks for reporting this error.

We are already trying to reproduce this error but had no luck sofar.

Do you move the fader very slowly or fast?

If you have more hints on how to reproduce please post it here.

Hey Alex, thanks for the quick response :D

When I initially stumbled across the problem, I moved the slider slowly to make the room size smaller and it happened. I'll see if I can find a better way to reproduce it.

To reproduce it with the preset and 1 instance, I was moving the fader fast.

Do you guys have a copy of Cubase ? Maybe I can prepare some Cubase projects to show how it happens ?

Cheers

Hello Fots,

yes we do have Cubase. It would be nice if you can send us your simple test file. Then we might be able to do exactly the same as you do.

Thanks for your help.

Cool, well actually, I can reproduce this with a new project and the preset. Please check out this vid...

http://www.users.on.net/~djbros/ExampleAAR.rar

1) I show the serious error occurred in a project I have that has an instance of AAR.

2) I show to how produce the problem on a new empty project.

I'll try to prepare some more things to help you find this one :D

Thank you so much for helping me out!

This is the track I'm working on btw :D

First half without AAR, second half with AAR. Needless to say, I love AAR to bits!

Hello Fots,

thanks for your help. We made some progress but have yet not finished our analysis. From what I heard your inputs already helped to hunt down this issue. In case we need some more inputs we will get back to you.

Btw. nice track. One can definitly hear the difference even when you are just on a simple mono notebook speaker as I am currently.

Hi Fots,

also from my side, thanks for reporting! Just wanted to let you know that we're still here... it seems to be a very nasty bug. We still couldn't reproduce it on any of our machines. However, it's not hopeless. Means, we have an idea :)

This will take a little time, as we're rather busy atm and the bug is so hard to provoke. I hope very much that you can work with the actual version, though.

In case it's too nasty for you, try to set the roomsize via float edit window (double click fader) and manually entering the desired value into the text edit box, instead of using the fader/wheels. This could minimize the issue.

We will contact you, as soon as we have questions, and if you have any news, just let us know.

Thank you very much for helping and for your understanding and sorry again for the inconveniences!

Thanks a lot Timo. This bug has not stopped me working with AAR, I'm just a little careful when adjusting the room size. I appreciate all your help! :D

Could it be an intel related bug ? Just a thought, maybe you guys have AMD machines :)

Cheers

No, I also tested it on an intel machine, but good thought, indeed... :)

But I have another question: can you reproduce the error in WaveLab/Reason, too? It *might* be a cubase related error, we're not sure atm.

I'm off now for a few days ( :hyper: ), so I will answer your follows not before end of next week.
