If you turn up the env1 (volume) release the clicks go away. Just slightly to 10-15. There's still no release you can hear but the slight click go away.
To be honest that was'nt my kind of patch but whatever rocks your boat, right? If you like it that's all that matters.
EDIT:Note to self,if you write so people can actually understand, that helps. They're not mindreaders you know.

I'm not sure, since I don't have a keyboard controller with me, but I'm not able to reproduce the problem running Z2 in Live here at work (shhhhhh!). Which leads me to believe it may be related to the velocity of the note -- you might try turning down the velocity knob on Env1.

First, the patch exceeds 0dB at certain times. This can lead to pops/cracks/distortion depending on the host and sound source. I cheated a bit by addeing subtle compression to the end of the FX chain to keep this in check.musicall wrote:this (i think) is a really cool patch i made....one problem....when i hit the notes sometimes the sound clicks or does a slight crackle...anyone know why?
Second, the release parameter on Env1 was set to zero. You can hear audible clicks on your release if you mute everything but the FM osc. I removed that by setting the release to a small but non-zero value (around 8-9).
In the zip patch #1 has the above modifications applied. To my ear the timbre of the patch doesn't change.
I also added two more patches with a few more changes than the ones above.

While it's not my usual style of sound either, you'll find a few patch banks on the web presets that you may like to tweak. Check out jeff51, JacK_SoliuM, and Unempty's Oddities for more inspiration.musicall wrote: please let me know what u think about the patch!

yeah i have those preset banks...cool stuff in there...im gonna post another patch later today

Any decent host has visual levels to see the current output from an audio source. Better hosts also mark your peak volume. Unfortunately, hosts do this in different ways. For example, AU Lab that comes with Xcode on the Mac has two red "lights" that turn on if the volume ever crosses 0dB. Here's a picture of it with your original patch:musicall wrote:bmrzycki how can u tell the patch exceeds 0 db at times? doesnt that just depend on the volume u have ur zebra set in ur plugin host?

Notice the right "light" is red and the small white lines are quite high. This is how I knew your levels were too high. Given the dynamic range on this preset I simply couldn't turn down the master volume because even when I did I'd hit the occasional peak. If Z2 had a built in limiter, I'd have used that. Since it doesn't I reached for the next best thing, the compressor.
Here's a shot of the patch with compression applied:

Notice how the level of the green bars is mostly the same but the little white bars are now much closer to the volume level.
Hope this makes sense. I'm still learning as I go myself.

Btw. I think that the new (not yet published) compressor/limiter in MFM2 works quite decent... I'll probably add it as an optional type to Z2's compressor...
