liqih - i understand that - good commercial sense and all that - so np

[not saying i like it though :P ]

just thought that testing on a more 'obscure' host would be helpful as well as on the major ones
:) :)

and having said all that - a bugs a bug whatever host youre in

I just want to add that I understand completely the idea of software developers concentrating on making their plugins work flawlessly in more "established" hosts. I would do the very same thing. There are a lot of different hosts out there now. Many of these hosts (probably all of them, truth be known) will have some little bugs in their software. It makes sense to concentrate first on chasing down bugs in the more popular, more establised and stable hosts.

That being said, there is also value in beta testing on obscure hosts. If a bug rears its ugly head, when testing Tubi with Cubase, for example, and then also shows up in a few of the more obscure hosts, it becomes very likely that the problem is indeed somewhere inside Tubi. However, if a problem arrises only when using one particular host, then it can sometimes be hard to determine whether the problem is in Tubi or in the host. Spending a lot of time on such an issue can be counter-productive, especially if you still have other bug reports that are related to multiple hosts, or to the most popular hosts.

So I'll continue to test on some obscure hosts, but I never expect the team to drop everything and fix an obscure problem with a single obscure host--unless they had all the mainstream hosts taken care of, and they had some additional time to spend on my obscure host issue. I would suggest that everyone keep testing on whatever platform they have available, but just don't expect that all platforms will get equal attention. It makes perfect sense to concentrate on the most popular and most established hosts first.

I'm happy to be a beta tester, even with obscure hosts. :)

anyway, <grin>,
I just tested LeSax compiled in demo mode (no serial)
MSCV compiler,
in the latest Tracktion demo, PC notebook IBM R31, WinXP pro, cpu P3-M,

no problems at all, check the files here:

http://liqihsynth.com/TubiLeSaxinTracktion.rar

mp3 and Traktion prj,

for air and keys noise, just mind to reduce velocity on notes, since they work on reverse velocity, e.g. you can't hear air with note at 127 velocity,

key pads noise should be indipendent though from velocity IMHO, William?

Has nobody else gotten that crashing sound? I just got it again in Cubase SL, this time. I have four instances of Tubi running - the "song" takes turns with each one. It all worked fine when I first creates the song, but when I shut down and reopened Cubase then tried to play it, the last one did the booming routine and for a short while, none of them would play. I hit stop and play a few times and now all of them except the booming one make sounds. It's gone silent.

Tested the latest 0.88 on Tracktion 1.4.0.38 all went fine.

The scales works fine, only the "Equal temperament" is twice on the list.

The glissando now works correctly but doesn't feature crossfading.

The rest works like a charm IMO.

Here's a preset to recreate a breathy sax (like those on the Ray Charles blues) it has a slower vibrato, much more air and a little more keys noises.

If they are independant, they will show the behaviour you describe above. Fixed-volume air and key noise would stand out more when you reduce the velocity of your playing. The air and key sounds would not get softer with less velocity, but the main component of the sound would get softer, perhaps even to the point of being dominated by the air and key clicks sounds which didn't change in velocity.

Is there a chance that this is what's happening in the host you are testing?

christ i feel like a dumbass now !!!

liqih - you were ABSOLUTELY right - all the notes in my little tubilesax test files were at full velocity

i lowered them and - guess what ??? - BOTH air and keys are now audible in tracktion [so i guess 'keys' is velocity sensitive too ??? ]

sorry everyone [but i dont think im the ONLY one whos fallen foul of this]

just the error message to sort out now then - i know the demo [as opposed to beta] version doesnt throw this up - but my REGISTERED version of daAlfa2k does so presumably a registered version of tubilesax might also ???

pough, please send me the cubase file, I try to open it in SX

Could someone please tell me the path that the "scale" file resides in?

I keep getting error messages that say the scale file can't be found. This is happening on multiple hosts, so I doubt that it is the fault of the hosts themselves. Perhaps I bungled the install somehow. If not, Tubi might have a bug in regards to the scale path.

I'm using TubiLeSax on Win98se, just in case that matters.

Thanks,
McLilith

no problem Rob, <grin> it's our responsability to explain how the synth works,

for the message at start about prefetch error, that's very strange, it happens with daAlfa2k in Tracktion demo too sometimes, but it seems to not affect performace after load

Post

no - the synth works fine - just throws up that error message each time

dont remember the previous version of daAlfa2k doing it though

it shoudl be \VstPlugIns\DashVSTs\Sax Data\scale

for "scale" folder

Downlaod the LITE install and install it again, that should solve the problems. Since I'm not including the Scale files anymore on the udpates. I tought everybody allready updated. :P

That's great, but so far looks like you are the only one? :?:
The scales works fine, only the "Equal temperament" is twice on the list.
Just delete "Equal Temperament.txt"

Yes, when you use the "glider" cross-fade won't work. But I think this feature is not likely to be used much.

Ohh, I got this too, is the darn Reverber code. :o Is a FREE library, so I have to see why it does that. But I think is related to the "Beta Message Box" - since on the tests without it the crash-sound doesn't happen. Anyway, I will put a code to clean the Reverber after you click OK on the box. :P Should work.
