If you were to download REAPER for the uncrippled trial (which I guess never actually times out, although you are supposed to buy after 30 days) all the .dll files are right in C:\Program Files\REAPER\Plugins\FX .bduffy wrote:I think ReaVerb is only included with Reaper, othwerwise everybody would be chatting about it, and saying it's more Lexicon-like than CSR.The free-for-non-Reaper-owners-bundle is: Reacomp, Reagate, ReaFir, ReaEQ and ReaStream, AFAIK, but I had to check. You just never know these days.

another +1 billion for the vst reamote. I would gladly pay for that sucker...especially if it worked - cross platform...(can you imagine the possibilities, i could use dp4's mas plugs and reaper...hmmmmm)

No that would not work. Reamote requires you to have a copy of the same plugin on each system - how else could it work? On one system it loads the GUI so you can edit the sounds but it uses the CPu of the other system to run the plugin's audio engine. The only way you could network multiple computers that don't have the same plugins is to use something like ReStream which sends audio and midi over the ethernet - and that you do havejoshhunsaker wrote:another +1 billion for the vst reamote. Reamote is an exe not a plugin and as it's designed to communicate with Reaper using a dialogue built into Reaper's options that's not likely I'm afraid. For it to work in other apps you would have to get the developers of those apps to build in the functionality that exists in Reaper.

The dll files in reapers plugin folder aren't VSTs, they are in their own format for use in reaper only.Lagrange wrote:Hey I wonder if reamote.dll is there also?? and if it could be used elsewhere..guitarzan wrote:all the .dll files are right in C:\Program Files\REAPER\Plugins\FX .

Hmmm...I guess your right. They really shouldn't be refered to as VST and VSTi then when you go to add effects ( "VST: ReaVerb (Cockos)" for example).chuck death wrote:The dll files in reapers plugin folder aren't VSTs, they are in their own format for use in reaper only.
Heck, that would've been another good selling point.
I'm about a week into my trial and I think I will buy anyway - teams up well with eXT.

I might be wrong but I suspect the ones identified as "VST's" (unlike say the Jesusonic ones) are VST's in the sense that they are made using the same VST development tools and standards but so far have only been developed with Reaper in mind so are optimised for that host alone and not supported on other platforms. That is probably why it has been possible to, with some additional work and testing, make some of them available to work in other hosts but the rest have not been as yet so would be unlikely to work well if at all (or even load?)

As aMUSEd points out they probably are basically VSTs but have been coded to work only in Reaper, so calling them VSTs isn't technically wrong. Tracktion has a similar approach with it's Mastering Effects, they appear as VSTs but don't work in any other host than Tracktion.guitarzan wrote:Hmmm...I guess your right. I'm testing the same configuration myself! They do seem to work nicely together, I'm just waiting for a few more of the proposed features to be added to EXT2 and I think I'm all set to switch entirely to a EXT2/Reaper system. My only decision at the moment is whether or not I will even need Reaper when EXT2 starts to mature fully!guitarzan wrote:Heck, that would've been another good selling point.![]()

For anyone who is experiencing no audible effect with reacomp can you try with lowpass set all the way to the right and highpass all the way to the left? We had a problem at our forums that came down to too narrow of a detector band

If that was the problem, then why was the compressor working once auto make-up gain was enabled, with the same settings?Pipelineaudio wrote:For anyone who is experiencing no audible effect with reacomp can you try with lowpass set all the way to the right and highpass all the way to the left? EDIT: Nevermind...it wasn't actually woirking, just being compensated by the make-up gain...but I'm still not convinced there isn't something weird going on. I'd love for you guys to keep trying it and report back; it's working perfectly for me now in every way, and it is niiiiice...........

Well the compressor is amazing. I am able to pull off a very convincing LA2Aish smooth type of compression. I looked up the specs on an LA2A and made some adjustments then took a demo clip off of UAD's (I don't have a UAD card) page and kept tweaking tell I got the Reacomp as close as I could to it and I gotta say I'm very impressed with what this compressor can do.
Here's what I came up with:

The first passage is unprocessed. The 2nd and 3rd are processed. Guess which on is the real deal...
Oh yeah...take a look at the EL Distressor manual. It gives some great staring points for vintage emulations of famous compressors.

Yeah that's the one. Look in the Classic Emulation section.
BTW - How you liking Nebula? I've downloaded everything and still haven't installed yet. I'm about to replace my HD and was waiting to request the serial after I got the new drive up. If I wait long enough I be than upgraded to Nebula 3 (which I plan to do anyway).
