come again, please..
you have one channel strip in the patchmix that sends and receives the signal<sending it back to eXT>?
if that's it, let me know how you do it, so that i can free my patchmix of some inputs

Post

i'd need details on the patchmix, not eXT
thanks

Thought I posted this last night, sorry:

External effects loop

If that can be improved upon, let me know, or better yet, post a session of your own, as my mind bends reading this kinda shit.

i feel the dumbest of the dumbasses for never "notesting" the "send and return" insert.. <very unconfortable>

don't think it'll help you improve but may inspire you to try different approaches

Just remember to always make your send to Asio host UNDERNEATH that send/return, or it won't work. Those insert slots are exactly what they appear to be, serial, so that send/return HAS to go before your send to host.

Cheers,

[what a f**king nightmare this thing is; I'm so glad I sorted it out..And the new drivers/skins are a nice fringe benefit for all the digging.]

What happens if say, one of these external devices I want to use only has a single input, like say, my GL-100? It has l/r returns, but only one input for sends. Is this set-up accomodating for a mono signal? Hell, all the pedals are single inputs..Does the 1820m's left channels serve as mono like most hardware units do?

I seriously don't want to call those jerk-offs at EMU..

:dog:
dunno, but sounds like you figgered it out. i would probably have tried panning the mixer output strip hard left.
It works fine. On patchmix you have left and right panner controllers. Instead of panning hard left, I just set the left pan to 50% and that was good enough. The new drivers should enable mono channel operation anyways, but after all this work I'm scared to install them and have a f**k up with my session file being read..

:hihi:

Thanks for all the help, everyone, especially Sean; my long-term, go-to, bug-till-he-frigging-pukes patchmix handyman..

thanks Sickle, i'll have that in mind, if it's how you putting it, i'll earn some time for not having to figure it out!
thanks again!

YOu tried the new drivers?? I know I should just load them up and see, but I stayed on 1.6 for the longest of times, because nothing was wrong,, but the 1.81 drivers were just as solid... I mean ANY improvements for you, besides the Vista support(doesnt affect me) or the new compressors and gate(also most likely wont affect me))

Im a little scared child when it comes to new drivers and shit, cause my system is pretty optimized I think. Because if it all f**ks my system up I KNOW I will be loading everything from scratch again.. Its just what happens to me...

btw, when you're installing the new drivers, theres a message saying something like,
these drivers will only be supported till september
i don't have a clue what they're trying to pass us

Horse's mouth gives the Okey Doke. Not only that, but you have mono channels as well as a decent(finally) selection of skins, and those skins are selectable without powering down patchmix. I've seen a few and they're frigging nice:

The second one is v2.0 drivers only

My received feedback on the 2.0 drivers is rock solid. I'll be installing em tomorrow prolly. Hell, you can just go back afterwards. I save my patchmix sessions in 2 different HD's, so I'm not worrying about losing set-up rigs.

For space sake, that first skin is great.. I mean, it DOES make a difference!! I know I can just roll it backwards, but for real, I have no skills on the software side of things... I am gonna start recording with ADAT AND analog at once in the next few weeks. I have never done that I will be using 12 simultanious mic's on my drumset coming up.. IM hoping it works, if not. I'll prolly give the new drivers a test... Otherwise I have been able to run all 8 Analog inputs with no probs..

BUt the mono channels is definetly a plus if you want to use FX on all channels.. I personally dont , but.... That is something that should have been there since day one..

For what it's worth, all my experience with EMU trounces M Audio..At least I don't have to reboot to reset the stoopid frigging ASIO drivers like I used to with my Radium61..

heh..um, right click on that image and select 'view image'.

That beast is no less in size than any other patchmix skin; seems they all are constrained to original patchmix size specs..

Still, it's a way better looking skin, and that's prolly the one I'll use.

Hmm I didnt finish my thought. All I meant "for space sake" was I wasnt going to "quote" your post.. But my point was definitly different skins CAN make an influence on how I work. I used to never think that, but Im slowly realizing it...
