Greetings!

Quick question:

Does Zebra 2 allow for cross synthesis/vocoding from an external audio input? i.e. using external audio as an oscillator or modulator. I think the answer to this is no but will it ever be? This is the principle tool I use in my music and its sadly ignored by most of even the most complex modular synths.

Not yet. I'm waiting for VST3 to get a format that allows for inputs to instruments without special workarounds.

If you were working in Buzz you might be able to do some modulating to Zeeb via PeerADSR or the like, but i don't think it's playing to Zebra's strong points.

If Urs wanted to take an.. er.. interesting (and quite Buzz-like) approach he could create a separate VST effect which "teleports" a stream into Z2 as a modulation/oscillation source, i suppose.

Yeah, hmm... too many possible hickups... some with Zebra as fx plugin...

VST2 is the only format where audio in for synths is not officially supported. Give me VST3 and we have a good solution for all formats, without stress...

Oh well that is fair enough! I didn't realise that there is such a limitation with the VST2 architecture. I am trying to use Albino for its audio in capabilities but really that element is limited in that synthesiser. I look forward to VST3 then!

Thanks.
