I tried modulating pitch in a sampler with midi data from the dynamics processor demo and it sounded steppy, recording the CC shows that the resolution is 1/4. I there a way to improve this?

Hi,

the resolution for the MIDI CC output is limited by the MIDI CC specification itself (128 values). A good way to improve the resolution is to reduce the range of the output so that you have more MIDI values for a smaller range (you will probably not need the -60 dB range offered by the Blue Cat's Dynamics plugin output). To do so, right click on the background of the plugin and select the preset settings. In the MIDI output tab, reduce the range for the parameter you are using (maybe check first the effective range that is produced by the dynamics plugin on your track).

If it still sounds steppy it might be due to your pitch shifter plugin that does not offer a continuous pitch shifting capability.

I hope this helps.

Cool, i'll give it a try. The pitch shifting is in Kontakt so I dont think the problem is there. If I redraw the CC data manually, smoothing out the steps with the line tool it sounds ok. It just looks like there is one midi CC mesage sent about every 1/4 of a bar. I guess that could also mean that the level is coincidentally reaching one of it's 127 points every 1/4. I'll check it out.

Awesome potential in these plugins by the way, well done!

Yes I guess that's the reason for the steps. If it still does not work the way it should, please let me know!
