But it still has the same set of factory presets that it had when it still was a beta version. Urs, maybe you could include a 'best of' from the free presets and a couple of 'teasers' from the commercial presets in the new Zebra V2.2 factory bank ?

Great news Howard, if someone knows how to make 'Virus-y sounding' presets, then it should be you !Howard wrote:Actions, huh? I've almost completed about 300 factory presets especially for the next Z2 update. Including some Virus clones.ttoz wrote:...why always post the same thing that the current presets don't show it's capabilities? then MAKE some! You have been talking about cloning virus patches for months now and I haven't heard anything yet...Actions speak louder than words!
This is my work right now - no time to play. You'll have to wait like everyone else. Sorry.
Same here !Howard wrote:If you would post a "this is the Virus" sound from your Virus, or tell me which preset you'd like me to clone, I'd be able to show that Z2 can capture that character rather well

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOttoz wrote:and even so if I am that impressed I will buy Z2 again direct from Urs this time! How's that!
That would make you the first 3-timer... but only the forth one who's bought it twice directly from me...

Oh... what the heck! I've just spent half an hour making this: http://www.box.net/shared/ttnd2ldxk5
It's just a quick teaser for you non-believing Tarnce fans out there.
Hmmm. Starts a bit too softly, kicks in later. Enjoy

OK,jupiter8 wrote:I'm still not sure wheter you were seious or not when you said the Virus is a softsynh and not real. However it is software whereas the Matrix 12 is analog. Or at least the signal path (osc, vcf, vca). The modulators are software generated on the Matrix 12 as well.shogger wrote:Well, from time to time I'm not interested in hearing about your hamster being pregnant or how tasty your vintage corn flakes collection is but I simply like to stay ON topic. What i think John (or do you prefer mr Vulich?) meant was the Virus isn't the only game in town. There's plenty of other synths that sounds really good. The Matrix 12 being one of them. One of the best synths i've tried period.
I see. Obviously I was too much around the corner and apologize for my postings. Please relax.

P.S. Just to get that stright, too: I agree on the Matrix 12. One of the best synths I ever heard. I still remember back then coming to the store and someone who can REALLY play keyboards (me is a guitarists mainly) demoed this beauty and I was substantially floored. 2 hours later I left the shop with a strong memory.

Actually I mean e.g. the sounds that bmanic was talking about. These specially ticking sounds with low res and high Filter Env mod. The example that Urs reposted where he asked you if this is straight Virus output. I tried for several hours to emulate that one with Zebra but I'm only that close that my wife likes it more than the Virus one. But to me it doesn't sound 100% -LIKE- the Virus.pschelfh wrote:shogger, can you please define 'famous Virus sounds' ?shogger wrote:The goal is to show if Zebra2 can emulate the famous Virus sounds really convincing.
Since I have Zebra2 and my Virus TI (finaly) arrived, I could do a comparison between the 2. If someone could provide some midi-file, this would be most helpful !![]()
I must say that I'm a bit disapointed by the sound of the TI, I had much better memories of my Virus B (maybe because there weren't as many good VSTi's around back then). For my latest songs I prefer the sounds of Zeba2 and Nexus much more than those of the TI.
Peter.
Cool, thanx for the reminder. I think I already downloaded your soundbank but didn't try it yet. Will do soon.pschelfh wrote:BTW : Check out my Zebra2 soundbank, there are some from-the-top-of-my-head Virus sounds in there (I didn't have a Virus when I made them, so it's not 1:1), just trying to capture the sonic character of the beast.

Good try but to be honest the adxhip example sounded far more convincing to me.

Here's the link to the thread where it was posted along with the subtractor example both of which sounded better to me.Howard wrote:Do you have a link to that?aquar wrote:adxhip example

Not sure if the links have expired? I downloaded the mp3's many months ago and haven't heard better as yet.

Yes, tough luck. Wouldn't to many others either, so don't be disappointed.Howard wrote:Well it wouldn't to you, would it?Shy wrote:Doesn't sound anything like a Virus to me.

its a good attempt - it's defintely a tarnce lead - but it does not sound like the virus - the filter is too clean and it doesnt have as much as bass as I would expect from a similar virus presetShy wrote:Yes, tough luck. I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.
