Sorry, Grrrl, a friend and me got caught up in pasta & red wine.

For all those who still work on the arp: The original sound has the XY-equivalent of the Virus set up for Phase and... Noise volume!!!

More findings tomorrow.

Had a few goes (not with zebra). Although I don't really like this sound. There are way better sounds in the demo mp3s.

ps. what's with people saying tarnce all the time? Is that supposed to be some sort of passive aggressive insult towards trance?

This is my last attempt, that arp is driving me nuts !!

Zebra2 goes Virus.

There's something else going on in the Virus mp3, I have some of Manuel Schleis' soundbanks and sorry to say, but I didn't find a sound that powerful.

It's not exactly agressive. Just an old KVR insider joke (someone mixed the letters up, similar to "OMFGLOLZ!!!111" (with the 1 instead of !) or "teh" (for "the"), which you will all usually find in case someone is going in havoc mode, typing faster than possible. Something like that.
For a while, www.tarnce.com even forwarded you to KVR (it doesn't anymore).

So, whenever you see someone saying things like "OMFGLOLZDUDE, oNLY TEH VIRUZ WILl MAKE U SOUND LIKE A TARNCE GOD AND U SUX0R FOR NOT USING THE PROTOOLZ!!!!11111 LOLZWTFOMG!!11", just don't worry. Plain normal over here.

Tarnce
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Tarnce" [sic] is an alternate name (and a well-established cliché) for trance music used cynically within Internet music forums, chiefly to ridicule it (or fans of the genre). The term originated at the KVR Audio forums.

References to "tarnce" are typically used in response to a badly-typed or misguided post, assuming that the originator has little in the way of musical taste and / or creative ability. In context, a piece of software that is widely used for making trance music can be jokingly described as "good for tarnce".

Ok, I had a go after all. It's not perfect, but it's fairly close. I couldn't get the envelope shape exactly the same and it definitely needs a unison but it definitely retains something of the, um, spirit. It's all z2 other than the reverb It's at:
