I did try to recreate one of the bass presets (Eurobass2) on Zebra2. It was just a simple square wave but the saturation stage before the filter + the saturation/distortion fx on the Virus gave it such a distinct sound that I was unable to recreate it.

Depending on how the sound is configured you might need to transpose +12 I think

Alrighty, here we are, a few little basslines I put together just now mashed together...

I have included an MP3 of a little Synth1 sound I put together for playing this. It is basically mostly square with a little sawtooth mixed in one octave higher. 24db/oct filter with no resonance and a little saturation and delay.

If you could post some of the bass presets on the Virus playing this back, that be absolutely awesome.

Hope the bassline is adequate

134 BPM in case your host doesn't detect the speed.

Hmm, I think people add a bunch of detune and unison to get a bigger sound but that's not at all what is making this sound what it is.

If you check out the original, you'll notice that it consists of no detune (or extremely little) and no stereo unison .etc.

It's all about the filter envelope and punch at the start of each note.

My Synth1 example was just a fun sound I used while compiling the little MIDI clip but it certainly does not attempt or succeed at emulating the Virus patches I'm in love with.

Now that sounds sweet. Oversampling 64x?

this sounds way better than the original virus preset.

Less of that "flatness" and much more "3D-dimensional".

what about naming all your audio samples from now on in a way that at least tells us the name of the playing synth?

I personally really appreciated suthnear including his Z2 patch along with his mp3. It showed how he got the sound and allows for anyone to come along and tweak it to suit his/her tastes. Just my 0.02.
