I used to think the internet was going to unite mankind. Now I realize the internet is perhaps mankinds greatest wasteland of bickering, greed, and narrow minds. " And we all shine on, " Imagine that.

Other than the lack of a proper unison and phaser effect, would it be possible for Oatmeal to pull off a virus emulation? (It's got a proper distortion unit that's for sure.
)
EDIT: Shitty attempt in Oatmeal. Needed something to do anyway...

The Virus' phaser effect is superb to my ears. I've been generally unimpressed by most digital simulations that I've heard, but Access pulled it off marvelously. I would have always thought that unison is unison and it would be essentially the same on any synth, but that was until I heard the Nord Lead's implementation. I'm not entirely sure why Clavia's unison sounds the way that it does, but it's the best that I've ever heard and no other synth I've owned implements stereo unison in exactly the same way. The Virus' wasn't nearly as good either.

Couldn't mimic the virus so I gave up.. instead I simply twisted some knobs on the first part of Soundpalace's bass riff. Enjoy 6 minutes of drunken tweaking that makes no sense at all.. there might be some nice sounds or there might not.
FabFilter Twin doing it's thing
Cheers!

PS. I quite like what the 128kbit of MP3 compression does to stabby synth sounds!

Just put a heavy bass drum under it and you're ready to go to Ibiza.

Isn't Twin great? I'm appreciating its versatility more and more. With some synths once you've heard the components you've pretty much heard it all but with Twin the components can interact with each other in unpredictable ways, especially at more extreme settings. Twin's become a bit of a personal benchmark for me with synths.bmanic wrote: FabFilter Twin doing it's thing

Just to point behind this for me what the arp is concerned.. my last changes to the Twin patch:
Ze Arp played by ze Twin.. es ist zoeper!
This is how I'd want the patch to sound, not as much an attempt to copy completely (hmm.. yes, that sounds good enough

I have found a synth that comes close to the Virus for that bass clip
I'll post later today. Synth1 & Massive were failed attempts.
bManic & hifiboom: Awesome clips!

I have one cycle per harmonic, linear interpolation, no oversampling.Urs wrote:Had a quick look on the code... it seems to use wave cycles that fit a number of samples. My attempts in that direction were pretty frustrating.
Pros: Great performance, great signal to noise at high frequencies.
Cons: can be memory hungry. Limited number of harmonics (can be "dull" at low frequencies).

I was wrong, tried again and compared and my attempt is simply not as punchy. Time to buy a Virus me thinkssoundpalace wrote:I have found a synth that comes close to the Virus for that bass clipI'll post later today. Synth1 & Massive were failed attempts.

A lot of this sounds like it was lifted directly from VNV Nation songs, can anybody explain this to me?soundpalace wrote:Hold up, I'll grab a link, I put together times of my fav sounds from the Vengeance soundsets. This stuff is all from Incubation v2 which is the one the arp is also on.Urs wrote:Oooph... where are they? On the Vengeance website?soundpalace wrote:What do you guys make of the bass sounds ? I had posted a clip of them earlier ?
Edit: see below
CheersThe sound demo is here...
http://www.vengeance-storage.com/www.ve ... chleis.mp3
Check out the following times...
0:38 - the main arp everyone is talking about
2:15 - one of the hardest leads I've ever heard, again no chance I could even replicate half the sound on this one
2:34 / 3:10 / 3:21 - the wicked bass sounds These are substantially harder to produce than the arp above, try it! Use as many effects as you want! Very Happy
