Can I apply destructive effects directly to samples (per zone)?

I am sure you can always edit a sample and apply effects outside of any sampler, but I am worried that in doing so, how will that affect host daw tempo sync? I would love to see the inclusion of a few effects so that I don't have to worry about tempo sync.
