There are people hiding out there hiding in the corner making extended tracks of synthtweaking...
Sure - there's SO much of it available online, 99% of which is "not very good" IMO, and so little in the shelves that Hunterkiller's statement (quote: you'll never see CD's of this stuff - even in the big CD stores...So practicaly it doesn't exist to the majority of the population) is certainly true.

Ohh well perhaps one day minimalism will get a status like classical music, only problem is... i dont listen to classical music, unless its synthesized :hihi: A way out of this might be to re-invent the genre in Surround Sound and wait for every day people to have wireless surround sound speakers hoovering around their head. 8)

If you ask me, any VSTi sounddesigners worth their salt should have a copy of Zebra.
There's a few synths that qualify for such statements (I won't name them because I might miss some), Zebra certainly being one of them, totally regardless whether other synths are doing similar things, achieve some better results in some areas and what not. The basic sound quality and "open" approach of Zebras architecture defenitely make it a stunning sound design tool.
Whenever I open Zebra, I wish I was more of a sound programmer myself - unfortunately I'm always distracted by something else, but that's got nothing to do with Zebra at all.

Talking of oldschool, I just posted a little demo of Z2 doing "B4" style organ in the Instruments / Zebra thread. BTW: The very percussive lead organ only works in the latest public beta (build 5?) because it needed a mono MSEG for the percussion.

Yeah, I'm "Zebrafied"... :) It's a pity that I have no time to do sounds for this beast at the moment... :(

What stunt, Mike?

OK, I know - you got zebrafied and it's been keeping you from your other project(s). Sorry for dragging you back into sound design Mike, but I needed some serious competition! You were the obvious choice for zebrafication...

Resistance is futile, Frank ;) Welcome to the fold.

Umm, ye, except we are still stuck in the 21st century, not the 29th!

In Oldskool Vol 1 there is a bass patch named Roto Sound (its the slap bass), for fun i tried taking the decay down a bit and i liked the sound coming out, reminded me of my old rickenbacker bas played with a plectrum. That sound had to go with some noise so i also used the 5th Distorter lead patch which is also in Vol 1.

The outcome is very messy and muddy but i think you get the picture. Had to use EQ, Stereoexpander and comp/limiter and external Reverb on the final output. The reverb was added to give more live feel to it.

Regarding the Oldskool Vol 2 progress, hmmm well this time i think we have to keep a lid on things :P

You have no idea how much i'm looking forward to actually try setting Zebra up for a proper mix situation. Imagine using a week for a nice mix :hihi:
