Almost forgot how CPU can suck you dry in no time. Last time i tried to mix something in Cubase was in 1993 and i'm a bit rusty. Trying to figure out which thing goes where and whats best takes f o r e v e r...

Anyways, i'm struggling with a so called acoustic kick i made and i have real trouble getting it right in a mix, I'm comping it, ducking it, gateing it and.. ohh well nevermind. Well..as i said before me and mixing needs alot of catching up in cubase. Here is a snippet of me trying to control 12 Zebras with some added external effects:

Genre i would say its somewhere between Manfred Mann and something else.

I'm gonna have to say the other 1/2 is pure Sega Genesis. :D I feel 15 years younger and playing Phantasy Star when I hear that music!

Long time ago, right after the dust storms in the 30's i told about my (cannot use other peoples patches) curse. Well today the curse have been lifted, not much but its a start. I made a piece of music and needed some brass horns so i thought hmmm perhabs Howards brass could fit in and after some quick adjustment it played like a dream. So this one is to you Howard :)

Not sure about your music style but those horns fit in this mix:

Will you please stop it, Michael?
I'm getting all wet, so that's seriously wrong!
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

Sorry, but trying to mix seems like the next logical step. I really want to give Zebra my best shot before i start composing again.

K, this demo and 1 perhaps or 2 more then there should be enough to make a medley of some sort for the next oldskool release.

First mix case was the rock synth swing pop thing, next the disco thing and now something i've done alot but this time cooked and boiled down to some basic electronica sounds:

Next thing is probably going to be very 80's and in the pop/dance genre, at least it will have something to do with gated drums.

After a good night sleep i think i might have to lower the BPM by 4, its too speedy to my taste this morning.

K, here comes an example of Zebra acting like a source for guitar amps. In this case its 3 oldskool guitar like patches and the roto sound bass patch which takes the trip thru amp simulators.

This is VERY noisy and by no means perfect but its a great oppertunity to take a demo like this back to the garage and have your band mates hear how your idea is.

Sorry, but you will have to imagine a crash cymbal somewhere in there :)

Boah,

back then when this stuff was in the radio I listened to I didn't really like it but was always impressed by those synth sounds. Today it gives me a big grin. Very cool, Michael. Like the brass also. All Zebra? Man ... :o

Now that was funny. But actually better than some of those virtual guitarist thingies. Respect.
