The ultra cool thing is that by using a database, your samples do not have to be online in order to browse your collection. Naturally you'd have to put the DVD in the drive to audition the waves but you can catalog all of your sample DVD/CDs and take the mystery out of what's lurking on the shelf.

Suddenly, these last few hours of work seem ultra long.

The features look great, but the home page says it doesn't handle 24-bit samples and isn't being updated. So it sounds almost perfect, but not quite.

Yeah I just discovered the 24 bit issue with Sample Catalog too. Makes it basically useless in this day and age, unfortunately (since having to move between SC and some other program to audition the 24 bit files defeats the whole purpose of doing everything in one place). I seem to remember this was a problem with another sample organiser...loophorse, maybe? If I remember rightly.

Yeah. I just noticed that this morn with Sample Catalog. Soooo close. Time to PM Vulich about configuring Total Commander. Loophorse does have this same problem, but the free version addresses most of the request until the new version comes out.

The search continues.

Media Monkey seems fine with 24 bit files.

Alright, that's it. I've had enough of you and your media monkey.

Just to show you, I'm gonna download it, use it, and love it.

That'll teach you.

I'll post some detailed info here, when I get a chance.

Yes please John, the only thing I'm missing from my mac to pc switch is AudioFinder, and it seems that total commander is the only solution for PC...

Okay, I admit that media monkey is quite usefull. Although there's no one click preview, you can sort of achieve this using the arrow keys and the enter key! Wavs drag into Guru and highlife, and the only thing I'm missing in the free version is advanced search. it seems whenever I search, it searches my entire library. Haven't figured out how to search just a particular folder or folder +subfolders.

Edit: I'm still gonna hit you up Mr. Vulich when I get the time.

Thanks all!
