i was wondering if it was possible to get the same discount on komplete 4
if you ordered a receptor pro jr. w/ komplete inside?
is this option even offered?
or would one have to pay the full price for komplete 4 plus the installation fee from muse?
just curious

thanks

Post

I just got a Receptor/Komplete, and I think creating a similar package around a Receptor Pro would be a great idea, given that one instance of Akoustic Piano seems to be enough to max out the CPU of the standard Receptor.

Post

its funny,
because i read your post about your experience
and got to thinking maybe a receptor pro/pro jr.
might have more umph!
i'm sure your investment is safe as the non sample playback
instruments require much less CPU
so i am quite envious of your new receptor
and wish you many many hours of productivity and enjoyment
best

You can get any model of Receptor as a Receptor Komplete. Here are the configurations:

Receptor with Komplete Inside: Our standard Rev C with Komplete Inside.
Receptor Pro 400 with Komplete Inside
Receptor PRO 750 with Komplete Inside.

The same great discount applies across all models and are a much better value than purchasing a Receptor and Komplete separately.

I have Sweetwater looking into a quote on a JR w/Komplete. It should be around 3199.97 based on their current pricing on a Rev C and REV C Komplete and a standard Pro JR.

Somehow I feel like I am beta testing a soon-to-be great product that may be underpowerd as a sample player given the size and layers of the most recent premium samples. It would seem like 4 gigs of memory should be right around the corner. There's are plenty of plug ins and samples that will load nicely into RAM so I'm sure I will find plenty of great sounds that aren't 20 to 40 gigs of streamng hell.

I am impressed with the product and I see no future but soft synths. I expect the Japanese will be out full force either this January at NAMM or next Jan with VST(i) machines. But they will be first gen machines and likely have some proprietary issues and conflicts until soft synths can settle on a unified format.

Post

A bold prediction:

Soft synths will NEVER settle on a unified format. Look at home video, a much bigger and more lucrative market with a much smaller number of players, and they're still squabbling over HD-DVD versus Blue-Ray.

I'm also not so certain that the Japanese will want to just create hardware platforms to host software created by others. This would be a major paridgm shift for companies like Roland and Yamaha.

As always with music technology you've got to buy what you're going to use now and not run around in circles worrying about the future. I was fully aware of the limitations of streaming samples with large libraries before I bought the Receptor/Komplete, but it was still clearly the best option for the live performance applications I want to pursue now. I will be curious to hear how much difference the the faster processor and larger harddrive of the Pro Jr makes.

Post

I am making a decision blind but based on a thread on Sampltek pianos someone had little problem with a new REV C and a 400 gig drive. So the pro JR looks like a safe 400 investment given that I like to push the limits on hardware.

The Japanese worked pretty well with standards like Midi, GM/GS standards, and their samplers were able to load common format samples.

I'm not sure they want to do 'sounds' or would rather push hardware. Certainly Roland could release all their JV and SRX sounds as MP3 or Wave based-VSTI and distribute them a lot cheaper onlune than on hardware expansion boards. It would seem like a logical step for them to find another avenue to repackage sounds.

Korg's released their Legacy VSTI set and Roland has their SH-201 which acts like a VSTi controller and which accepts MP3 and some other formats for upload.

This is speculation but the big 3 (Yamaha, Roland and Korg) look like they will embrace some form of VSTi integration. I don't think proprietary sounds are their future. Romplers are likely dead as users are simply bored with them.

My 2c.

hello,
i just wonder why they don't advertize this option in plugorama or in other website.i think Komplete inside will work better on a Pro jr.i also want to know the pricing of such(Pro w/ Komplete-$$$$??,Pro Jr. w/ Komplete-$$$$$$???

FWIW I got a quote from Sweetwater and am waiting on one from 8th street and will be ordering that config today or tomorrow. Near as I can tell it's about an 800.00 add on to the base Pro Jr price wherever it's ordered from. Of course if Plurorama want to offer free shipping and a Gator Bag that would be cool too.

If the reports of the rock bottom prices Sweetwater is now offering Komplete for are accurate there is no longer much financial incentive to get a Receptor with Komplete already installed. $800 over the stock Receptor price is about $100 more than buying a Receptor, buying the Komplete software and paying Muse $200 to install it. You are still saving a fair amount of time of course, but I would have had a difficult time making this purchase had these prices been in effect last month.

Post

Native Instruments runs a Summer Sale. It's over and Komplete is back to it's 1349.00 tag for new purchases at Sweetwater. Komplete w/Kore was running 899.00 10 days ago. That bundle is no longer on the NI site either as they readjusted their prices on Sept 1.

Post

This is why I was careful to preface my earlier comments with "if the reports of the rock bottom prices are accurate...", since this sort of thing is always subject to change. For quite a while Sweetwater had Komplete listed at $1359 and Komplete+Kore at $899, from which I drew the conclusion that the actual value of Kore is -$460.
