Scarbee Black Bass Released!

my wish-list would be (after finishing the black bass addon sets):
1. a brighter e-bass with the same features as the black bass (why not take the j slap n' fingered as a base, which imo has a great sound, and just sample what it lacks, and with a discount for current owners, please)
2. a fretless bass
3. an acoustic bass (picked and fingered)
4. an upright bass (maybe also bowed)

and when it is all done: pack it all together in an affordable bundle.

This has to be the most playable sampled bass sofar.
Its almost embarrasing how natural it reacts to MIDI input.
I mean how obvious is that: You want a pull off-simply play it on the keyboard and the script will select the correct sample. Play a hammer on, a slide whatever-the script will always pick the appropiate sample. Just play and thats it. Cant wait for additional basses in that series-this is the BOMB!!!!!

Ok no worries, I got the link. It took FOREVER for it to download but it was very worth it. Works seamlessly in K2 so far. Awesome GUI. Very easy to tweak plus I get all my Kontakt effects. Just awesome. Your product kicks ass Mr. Scarbee.

...samples only and I assume that it will only be working in Kontakt 2 and nothing else since it relies on the K2 scripting processor...

...I really hope that the Slapped Bass won't take so long...

...great price for this library, Mr. Scarbee, and I hope you'll sell the amount of copies it deserves (hope to get my hands on it until the end of this year). However I wouldn't think that a small upgrade path for JS&F owners would be a bad idea - maybe not for the Black Bass (Fingered) itself, but perhaps for a bundle of the Fingered and the Slapped Bass. Something like 150-170$ instead of 200$?

Black Bass comes as an optimized and script powered sample library
I guess that in a sense one could view it as a virtual instrument (I saw that there is a thread about it in the "Instruments" section of this forum as well) because it has been designed to be easily playable and has an integrated intelligence when it comes to for example automatically selecting string in real-time. However, it does not come with its own sample player so you need Kontakt 2 in order to use it. I hope that also answers Dan14's earlier question.

Yeah I sent an email to Thomas and he replied that he doesn't plan on releasing a Kontakt player 2 version of Black Bass. Too bad, I really want Black Bass but even with the NI deal at 300$ for kontakt I wont get it. I only want A really good and realistic Bass sound and you guys just made it but 300$ + 100$ is too much for me.

Please consider making a KP2 version of your instruments I will get them all i promise

Hi Project, Black Bass is a completely new product so the price is the same for everyone. Considering that it's built to be more playable than any other bass out there the price is already set very low.

By the way, there's now a new demo by Stefan Kengen on the Black Bass demo page (main product page is here).

Please for give me if this has been asked before: Will similar playability/functionality be added to the "Slap n Fingered" sample library? I never bought it before but always loved the samples sound of that bass. Making it as playable as the Black Bass would definitely make me buy it. Thanks!

For the standard effect preset the cpu usage is normally 1% and sometimes 2% on my computer - an AMD 4400+ with 2GB RAM. For some presets with more effects it can increase by a few percent. It's very efficient. This is the cpu usage reported by Kontakt 2 on the Engine tab. The latest versions of Kontakt 2 are very stable in my experience.

We are considering this possibility, but quite some work would be needed in order to adapt JSF to make this possible. A final decision has not yet been made.
