No, but one of these days I'll get around to getting mine properly serviced by these guys...

If you're in Europe you could always drop them a line.

suthnear wrote:Final verdict: not a buy. Although I like the basic sound, the fact that it clips so easily is deeply annoying (especially since ZioKiller's 201 emu vst doesn't). And while I could even live with this, the horrible phasing sound in multi-head turned out to be a deal breaker for me. I really couldn't buy the unit and not use half of the available positions. btw, speaking of positions, tap is local - it only lasts as long as you stay on one position. As soon as you switch positions, you lose the tempo you've tapped in.
What a drag..

The Hiwatt tape echo is a good bit cheaper than the Fulltone one. Fulltone has valves somewhere there in, so it be pricey.

No reverb on the Hiwatt, though, but then I don't think there's a reverb on the Fulltone either.

Reading the negative HC reviews of the hiwatt and the fulltone, it seems they both suffer from the analogue version of the point shamann raised earlier: that by tidying up the basic sound and limiting the extremes, they've lost something of what made their precursors so appealing.
plexus wrote about the fulltone wrote:anyway, its basically everything "we" wanted from an echoplex but could never get until now with the tte. oh and the infinite repeat sound is merely ok... echoplexes create a great wall of sound where-as the tte has a thinner, more aggressive sound and the effect of moving the tape head sounds different too
The hiwatt review has a similar sentiment regarding an unfavourable comparison to an ep3...

Don't suppose any of you know anything about the pigtronix echolution? Looks to be an interesting delay, even if not tape-based...

I'm not, but will be from next year, so thanks, I think I will. I might be able to buy the knackered re201 I used for the comparison at a good price...

My first 201 blew its capstan motor or whatever it's called a few months after I bought it (for AU$200).

Even back then (~95?), the store I bought it from was aware of the slim chance of tracking down a replacement part for a reasonable price, so they swapped it for another 201 which had just come in on consignment, ate the loss themselves.

moral: a space echo is a fragile beast, you'd be mad to pay today's bullshit used prices for one, the music swop shop in melbourne, au is

I traded mine for two month's rent I owed a buddy when I was building my own tattoo shop in Miami.
