Jeskola XS-1 seems to lock up Tracktion when running in 96000 Hz. 44100 Hz is fine.

maybe it just can't take the pace..

Couldn't tell. I've been running things I consider just a bit more heavy (like xphrase) at 96 with no issue.

Hi,

i'm currently checking out tracktion. i ordered a pc (i'm a mac user), so i'm still in demo mode on a 'not really suitable workstation for audio' ( a visual silicon graphics workstation). when i get my pc i can register and start for real.

the problem:
i was wondering if other people have or know off problems with halion 2/tracktion. (i bought it for mac but it's only vsti for the moment >> i can only use it in logic as an au via the vst to au wrapper; but that's asking for problems)
luckily the cd holds also the pc version so checked it out. i have installed it on this pc in tracktion and i get crashes (a complete lockup of the compter, i have to do a hard reboot [windows 2000]).>>>> it seems to occur when i try to move the virtual trackball in halion (right bottem).
i downloaded some other demos of hosts and and installed an older version of logic and there was no problem.

I'm not having crashes with HALion 2 in Tracktion at all and I'm using it quite regularly. Must be that Silicon Graphics machine.

if you're getting lock-ups when dragging UI elements in a VST, then turn off realtime priority mode on the settings screen. It's a bug with Steinberg's badly-written UI code that I can't do anything about.

hm.. did you try to put halion in list mode and moving the trackball then. in edit mode there seems not a problem.
in list mode i get a complet lockup. i only have it in tracktion.

well i hope you're right and that it is some oddity with the sgi/openGL. i just using it to learn tracktion and test some things in wait for the pc.

yes.. thanks jules, that did the trick.
i was already getting nerveous that besides a new pc (which i bought to start working with tracktion) i also had to go for a new sampler (again).

but it seems to work now.

what exactly does this realtime priority mode does or affect? does it change/degrade other important processes?

well thanks again, i can't wait to get out of demo mode.

realtime mode just improves performance when you're running at low latency with certain soundcards - for other soundcards it makes things worse, and it's best avoided if possible.

Jules thanks for the response on the old VST incopatibility thread, I didn't saw there was a new one sorry...and yesss let it die if you want.

Well, again with the FL thingie. I have been formally reported it on their forums so let's wait for a response first.

Also, I forgot to mention, after I got an exception error the Tracktion UI is moved outside the screen. and this can be useful to Tracktion+FL users, if you got this you'll see the Tracktion UI is no longer active, is like frozen, but is not. Just right click tracktion on the taskbar and choose move then move the UI using the arrow keys.

This one fits your catagory of working in other hosts but not in TRACKTION Jules. Works fine in Cubase 5.

Galactix synth from Smartelectronix..

Comes up ok and makes noise, but no parameters can be changed. Knobs move and preset list comes up but sound does not change.

Traction reported a Windows box "program has performed illegal operation and will be shut down". Clicking on the text box close DID NOT make traction go away. Instead I closed TRACKTION with the normal click on the "x"

I'm sure I've looked at spindelay before.. can't remember what happened..

Galactix looks like it's blowing up deep inside their code. Not usually the sort of thing that I can fix, because I can't guess exactly what it is that they're not dealing with correctly. I'll have a go anyway when I get chance, but can't waste much time on it.

about the galactix issues in tracktion that bear mentions above-

I have used galactix in tracktion lots with no apparent problems. I saved several presets in the tracktion user settings(not fxb) in the early days, maybe version 1.1 and 1.2 of tracktion. After seeing bears post I loaded up galactix, which I haven't done for some time, and have the same problem as bear. No parameters are adjustable. I also cannot load galactix presets from the galactix built in menu, *but*, I can load presets from the one I saved in the tracktion user settings. I tried these new tests on 1.4.0.125.
